Lin Jiao looked back at Hesta in surprise, then immediately turned to Ksenia to see her reaction.
Clearly, Ksenia had also been caught off guard by this sudden heartfelt confession. She had merely picked one or two trivial incidents from the past to tease Hesta about, never expecting such a response from her.
Ksenia's face reddened slightly. She seemed to want to say something, yet could not find the right words. She looked at Hesta, her gaze growing somewhat puzzled—what Hesta had just said sounded so sincere, but her expression as she said it had been so calm, as if she were answering what day it was or what time it was.
"It's not that easy to completely lose track of someone in this day and age. You're all at the same school—wouldn't it be easy enough to find someone?" Lin Jiao broke the delicate silence with a teasing tone. "Why would you worry about that?"
"Yeah," Hesta murmured. "...Why would I worry about that?"
Seeing Hesta look her way again, Ksenia averted her gaze as though she had touched fire—Hesta's solemn manner suddenly made her feel somewhat timid, and beneath that inexplicable fluster was a faint irritation for reasons she could not explain.
"...Sometimes, it happens," Mei Sinan suddenly said. "People sometimes worry excessively over unnecessary details. It isn't common, but... occasionally, you do run into it."
Only then did Ksenia realize Mei Sinan was still standing beside them. She immediately frowned, dramatically grabbing the fabric at his shoulder. "What are you still doing here? Go back already!"
She turned to Lin Jiao and Hesta, resuming her usual smile. "All right, that's it for today. Let's make plans another day!"
Lin Jiao tactfully took a step back and, together with Hesta, watched Ksenia march Mei Sinan away.
