Chapter 913: Traveling Together

For the next stretch of time, Hesta threw herself into a sea of paperwork. Although Yu Xuekun had helped shoulder some of it, certain matters had to be handled personally—such as Eleven's identity going forward.

Hesta decided to take her to District 12.

When Yu Xuekun learned of the decision, her jaw nearly dropped. She asked Hesta, "Do you know where you're going next?"

Hesta said that after Eleven arrived, she would receive care from the work station as a dependent.

Yu Xuekun kept shaking her head. "Don't you think it's too dangerous there?"

Hesta countered, "Was District 14 not dangerous?"

Yu Xuekun looked at her and did not try to persuade her further.

After Eleven's paperwork had been settled, Eleven's good friend Kiki came chasing after them, begging Hesta to take her too. Hesta had initially wanted to refuse, but she could not withstand the two children's tearful pleas not to separate them. So she sought a solution from the District 12 work station. In the end, with Ligo's help, she secured another spot.

Eleven immediately realized that this tactic worked on Hesta. The next time they met, she tearfully said that she wanted to bring along several puppies from the children's center. This time, however, Hesta refused with absolute firmness. The original tearful strategy turned into clinging desperately to Hesta's leg, and it ended with Eleven tearing one of Hesta's pant legs and Hesta flying into a rage.

The paperwork left Hesta utterly exhausted, but it also made that distant District 12 increasingly tangible.
