Before questioning the only Evil Soul Master left alive, Lu Yi first crippled his cultivation and bound him hand and foot to a chair. Then he opened a small bottle of Veritaserum, gripped the man by the throat, and forced a few drops down.

While they waited for the drug to take effect, Ye Guyi searched the bodies of the Evil Soul Masters she had just killed.

"What are you looking for?"

"The keys, obviously!" Ye Guyi said, then jerked her chin toward the cells on the other side. "Can't you see all those children are still locked up?"

But as soon as she finished speaking, Lu Yi raised a hand. Several clicks sounded in quick succession. When she looked back at the cells, every door was open.

"Looks like those little tricks some people consider beneath them do come in handy!"

There was a teasing edge to Lu Yi's voice. He had struck right at what Ye Guyi had been thinking.

During their confrontation, Lu Yi had realized she had misunderstood him because of his invisibility and lock-picking.

It was an understandable mistake, though, so he did not truly blame her.

His remark made Ye Guyi's face flush again just when her color had returned to normal. Alongside the embarrassment, she felt a surge of frustration.

How could this Lu Yi read minds?

"Hmph. That's what you get for picking locks like some petty thief."

She said it only to cover her embarrassment. Then she rose, turned her head away, and walked straight toward the cells.

"Now you're selling me short. If petty thieves could pick locks as well as I can, they wouldn't be petty thieves. They'd be Master Thieves at the very least. No—a Thief Douluo!"

"Oh, keep boasting!"

Ye Guyi could not help pursing her lips.
