History

The Sun Moon Empire’s inherited imperial Martial Souls are the Sun and Silver Moon. Silver Moon awakenings have become increasingly rare within the Xu family. The empire is renowned for its Soul Tools, but its Soul Masters have long lagged behind those of the three great empires and Shrek Academy 2 3.

Emperor Xu Chengye favored peace and diplomacy with the three great empires. His policies drew resentment at court and in the Offering Hall, including from Kong Deming. His brother Xu Chengjing, Prince Purple Brilliant, prepared to take the throne; the awakening of Chengjing’s son Xu Tiance and Kong Deming’s decision to teach him strengthened the prince’s position 1 2 17.

Before the coup, Xu Tiance and Kong Deming negotiated the relocation of the Body Sect to the empire. Its leader, Du Busi, agreed after Xu Tiance accepted him as a second teacher. Several hundred disciples subsequently moved to a new compound in Mingdu 19 20 21.

Xu Chengjing then seized the palace with support from Mingde Hall and three Soul Engineer Corps. The Offering Hall did not intervene for Xu Chengye. Chengjing took the throne, and his youngest son Xu Tiance was named Crown Prince 23 25 26.

Capital and Institutions

• Mingdu — The capital has broad streets, tall buildings and widespread Soul Tools, but no city gates or walls 1 12.
• Offering Hall — A concealed complex beneath the imperial palace where Kong Deming studies and makes Soul Tools. Its members include powerful Soul Engineers 3 6.
• Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy and Mingde Hall — Jing Hongchen heads both institutions and supported Xu Chengjing’s bid for the throne 17 23.
• Soul Engineer Corps — The Imperial Dragon, Fire Phoenix and Terror Claw corps took part in the coup. The empire had four corps at the time, one not yet fully established 23 24.

Soul Tools and Soul Masters

• The empire’s Soul Tool technology surpasses that of the three great empires. Defenses in its palace are powerful enough to threaten a Level 98 Super Douluo 18.
• Kong Deming’s Silver Moon Divine Light Shield is a Level 9 spatial Soul Tool capable of forming a protective dome; he says it could become a Level 10 creation if he reaches Super Douluo 31.
• After learning that Whale Rubber strengthens the body, Kong Deming decides the empire should stop selling it cheaply to rival nations—or charge substantially more 5.
• The Body Sect’s relocation adds an established Soul Master faction to the empire. Kong Deming proposes exchanges in which imperial students learn the sect’s combat methods and its disciples study Soul Tools 16 21.
• Xu Tiance proposes eventually naming the Body Sect the empire’s State Religion. Its relocation is confirmed, but the proposed title is not 16 19.

External Relations

• Three great empires of Douluo Continent — Xu Chengye sought peaceful relations; Xu Chengjing rejected the idea that the Sun Moon Empire could coexist peacefully with them 1 25.
• Body Sect — Relocated from the Heaven Dou Empire to Mingdu after negotiations centered on Xu Tiance’s Body Martial Soul 14 19 21.
• Holy Spirit Cult — Its leaders sought influence after the coup. Ye Xishui offered the cult’s strength in exchange for cooperation, but Kong Deming and Du Busi opposed her approach to Xu Tiance 26 28.
