Background / History

Recruitment into the Clear Sky Team

Ning Zi is the daughter of Ning Quan’s brother. Her uncle selects her when Tang Yue requests a support Soul Master for the newly formed Clear Sky Team. Privately, Ning Quan hopes she will marry the gifted young sect master, Tang Chen, or another promising disciple if that fails. Ning Zi’s immediate concern is whether Tang Chen will like her 11.

Tang Yue takes her to the Clear Sky Sect and entrusts her to the Second Elder, who gives her a cottage and arranges her introduction to the team. While trying to find Tang Chen, she instead wanders into the sect market, where her Pagoda detects an unusual ore 11.

Discovery of the Divine Inheritance

Ning Zi buys the ore for fifty Gold Soul Coins but cannot damage it. When blood from an accidental cut touches its surface, it splits open. A jade pendant enters her forehead, awakening the remnant soul of the Love God, a deity who fell during an earlier Divine Realm war 11.

The inheritance initially frightens her: failure means death, and she cannot withdraw once the trials begin. After spending a sleepless night worrying, she decides to let events take their course. At the team’s first meeting, Tang Chen recognizes her forehead mark as evidence of a nine-trial divine inheritance 12.

Training and First Kill

Ning Zi trains alongside the Clear Sky Team, practicing support control while enhancing Tang Chen and Tang Xiao. She also receives two pieces of Millennium Whale Rubber to strengthen her body and improve the age of Soul Rings she can withstand 16 21.

During the team’s first life-and-death match, Tang Chen severely wounds Purple Spider and asks Ning Zi to finish her. She cuts Purple Spider’s throat decisively but vomits immediately afterward. Tang Chen comforts her, and she resumes supporting her teammates with her strength enhancement 25.

Tang Chen’s Companion and Healer

After her first two trials, Ning Zi’s affection for Tang Chen becomes increasingly open. She kisses his cheek in thanks, later volunteers to accompany him on his travels, and begins addressing Tang Yue as “Father” at his invitation 31 32 40 41.

She initially insists on following Tang Chen into Slaughter City so she can keep him alive, but he persuades her to return to the sect with Tang Cen. Upon his return more than a year later, she greets him with an embrace and subsequently stays beside him as the healer for his Ring Detonation experiments 43 50 51.

Continental Journey and Later Cultivation

Ning Zi travels across the continent with Tang Chen to advance their respective divine trials. Her appraisal ability helps him gather rare ore in Gengxin City, while the Love God’s Heart collects obsessive-love energy from people they encounter. Their journey also includes several days of food, shopping, and relaxation in Emperor Soul City 52 53 56 57.

After Qian Daoliu joins them, Ning Zi draws out his excessive “Love-Brain” energy. She later completes her third trial using the much greater energy of a discarded royal consort. Back at the Clear Sky Sect, her next trial requires sustained cultivation; Tang Chen supplies two powerful Soul Bones and helps her obtain the fifth Soul Ring that brings her to level 54 63 65 86 87.

She is considerate rather than spoiled. Tang Chen appreciates that she respects boundaries and lacks a pampered young lady’s temper. Her year of training also gives her genuine pride in her own effort and progress 19 20.

Her devotion to Tang Chen is both affectionate and practical. She defends his romantic legend against the Love God’s criticism, worries about his safety, and readily helps with dangerous research.
