Power Progression

Background and History

Tang Chen crosses over into the Douluo Continent as a child of the Clear Sky Sect. He recognizes the name and future reputation of the person he has become, but finds that this earlier era is dominated by Spirit Hall. At his Martial Soul awakening, his Innate Full Soul Power astonishes the sect; he privately discovers that he has awakened two Martial Souls rather than one 1.

His father, Sect Master Tang Yue, supervises his early Soul Ring acquisition and teaches him the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. Tang Chen’s rapid growth earns him the captaincy of the Clear Sky Team. He later shares Immortal Herbs with the team, sect leaders, and allied families, contributing to the sect’s rise in strength 2 14 26 29 32.

At eleven, Tang Chen enters Slaughter City seeking the Asura God’s inheritance. He wins one hundred Hell Slaughter Arena matches, passes Hell Road, and begins the Asura Nine Trials. He subsequently travels with Ning Zi to advance their separate divine trials, challenges Spirit Hall’s Titled Douluo, and takes the young Qian Daoliu under his wing 41 43 45 47 52 58 62.

Tang Chen also pursues a second path to godhood. He forges a weapon intended to merge with his Clear Sky Hammer, claims the title “God of Strength,” and distributes statues to gather faith. Later, he makes worship of that title a condition of the political unification that creates the Sun Moon Empire 54 69 72 93.

Appearance

Tang Chen is sturdier than the other children at his Martial Soul awakening. After prolonged killing in Slaughter City, his formerly clear eyes acquire a scarlet tint 1 45.

Personality

Tang Chen is ambitious and eager to test himself against strong opponents. He trains persistently, but his early confidence can become dismissiveness: his loss to the faster Bai Ding exposes a weakness he had not overcome, and Tang Yue later worries that repeated victories have made him arrogant 5 9 10 38. He can also reconsider a risk; after an uncontrolled Ring Detonation injures him, he postpones further experiments until he has better recovery resources 48.

He shares valuable resources and techniques with people close to him, including Immortal Herbs for the sect and Soul Bones for Ning Zi and Qian Daoliu 26 64 67 86. His treatment of enemies and Soul Beasts is far harsher: he kills to complete Asura Judgment, compels a Soul Beast’s sacrifice, and seeks powerful beasts for their Soul Rings 68 75 78.

Twin Martial Souls

• Clear Sky Hammer — His primary weapon Martial Soul. Immortal Herbs give it ultimate strength; he later merges it with his forged Heavenly Divine Hammer 1 26 69.
• Whole Body — A Body Martial Soul that undergoes successive Second Awakenings and becomes the Asura Divine Body through the Asura trials 1 26 49.

Hammer Techniques and Soul Skills

• Clear Sky Power — Triples his strength and doubles his defense and physical constitution for one hour, consuming one-tenth of his Soul Power 4.
• Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — Builds momentum across connected blows. Tang Chen uses its Nine-Nine Return to One form against groups and powerful opponents 2 41 59.
• Clear Sky Domain — Raises his attributes by 30% and lowers an opponent’s by 20%. Its Power Breaks Ten Thousand Laws effect lets his attacks bypass special defenses and states 40.
• Ring Detonation and Great Sumeru Hammer — Self-developed techniques that greatly increase his striking power. Detonation disables the used Soul Ring temporarily and can injure him if mishandled 48 62.
• Asura War God Strike — His sixth Soul Skill delivers an attack based on five times his current strength attribute and leaves difficult-to-heal Asura demonic effects 59 60.
• Soul Core Method — His cultivation method greatly increases Soul Power recovery. He first teaches it within the Clear Sky Sect, restricting Soul Core formation attempts to those at least level 89 84.

Domains and Asura Powers

• Domination Domain — An External Soul Bone ability that boosts his attributes, reduces pain’s impact, resists bloodline suppression, and hinders weaker foes once he is strong enough to use it 4.
• Flight-Ban Domain — Extends five kilometers and prevents flight, including the aerial use of an opponent’s ninth Soul Skill 29 59.
• Asura Domain — The evolved reward of his Second Asura Trial. Its skills include Asura Barrier, Asura Judgment, Asura Soul-Sealing Domain, and Asura World-Annihilating Slash 50.

• Three Heads External Soul Bone — Grants Golden Battle Roar and lets him divide his consciousness among three additional heads to perform four tasks at once 14.
