In the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace, Emperor Xue Ye sat on his throne, watching Dugu Bo with a complicated look in his eyes.

After Spirit Hall sent its warning, Emperor Xue Ye reacted quickly and dealt with the trouble inside the palace at once. But by then, all of Heaven Dou City had descended into chaos. He knew he should save his people, yet he had no way to cure them. Going out to quell the chaos would mean killing them.

Helpless, he stood atop the palace walls and watched his people slaughter one another, destroying everything without a trace of humanity. Later, he saw Ye Qingti, head of the Ye Family, repeatedly cast the Great Healing Art under the protection of Spirit Hall Soul Masters, healing crowds of civilians. At first he was relieved that someone in Heaven Dou City could save them. Then came an emperor's suspicion and fear: if the Ye Family won the people's support, they might overthrow the Heaven Dou Imperial Family.

"Your Majesty, I've come to resign as the Heaven Dou Empire's Imperial Preceptor," Dugu Bo said respectfully.

"Why, my dear minister?" Emperor Xue Ye felt a flicker of delight, though his face showed only puzzlement.

"Your Majesty, I didn't hide my face while saving people just now. Everyone in Heaven Dou City saw me..." Dugu Bo let the words trail off.
