Background and History
Qian Zong is a 589th-generation descendant of Qian Renxue, whom his lineage remembers as the Second Generation Angel God. In his era, the Angel Lineage has fallen, and Evil Soul Masters hunt him for his pure Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul. He learns some of their methods to evade pursuit and survive 2 3 8.
Less than three minutes after becoming a Soul King, he faces a full-power attack from Ye Xishui, a level-99 Limit Douluo. Gravely injured, he arrives at Spirit Hall ten thousand years in the past. Qian Renxue brings him to the Worship Hall, where Qian Daoliu stabilizes him with Angel Divine Power. Qian Zong’s bloodline and knowledge of family secrets convince Qian Daoliu that he belongs to the Qian family 1 2 3.
His organs and meridians remain badly damaged after his apparent recovery. Qian Daoliu warns him against fighting for at least six months and considers it possible that he will never cultivate again. Qian Zong sees “Nirvana” as a possible route to regaining his talent, but no recovery is established 7.
Appearance
Qian Zong arrives filthy and badly injured. After recovering enough to leave bed, he is described as handsome, though his weak vitality and unstable Soul Power remain apparent to other Soul Masters 1 6 22 26.
- His complexion improves during his initial recovery 7.
- Years of surviving near death leave him with a glare that frightens Soul Masters who intrude into his body with Soul Power 28.
Personality
Qian Zong is wary when he first wakes among strangers, then openly emotional once he recognizes his family. He values their protection after years on the run and becomes deeply afraid of losing the safety he has found 2 3 22.
He is affectionate and teasing with Qian Renxue, but calculating in public affairs. He argues for wider access to knowledge and better lives for commoners while also using unrest, reputation, and an apparent injury to pursue Spirit Hall’s political advantage. He is willing to order severe punishment when he believes it serves those aims 21 24 25 27 29.
Abilities & Skills
Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul
Qian Zong possesses a pure Angel bloodline, with a Martial Soul highly compatible with Angel Divine Power 2 4 6.
- He chose Darkness-element Soul Rings despite the Martial Soul’s sacred nature 8.
- His fifth Soul Ring reached one hundred thousand years before his injuries ended his cultivation 8.
Sin Power and Evil Cultivation
During his exile, Qian Zong underwent a trial under Medusa, the God of Sin, and received Sin Divine Power. Its ability to absorb strength helped him survive, but cultivating evil power alongside sacred power weakened his body 8 26.
- Sin Divine Power remains entrenched around his heart; Qian Daoliu sealed it when he could not remove it 7 26.
- His body also contains mutated Evil Soul Power, his own cultivated Soul Power, and Angel Divine Power sealed within him by Qian Daoliu. The Angel Divine Power suppresses the evil forces and has purified a separate source of Corrupted Soul Power 26.
- Angel Divine Power helps protect him from ordinary attacks, but it has not repaired his cultivation foundation 4 7 26.
Future Knowledge and Instruction
Qian Zong draws on knowledge from his era to identify threats, resources, and cultivation methods unfamiliar to many of his contemporaries 3 17 23.
- He advises the Qian family to disrupt Tang San’s path to godhood rather than attack him directly while his destiny protects him 3 4.
- He teaches Gui Mei about Body Martial Souls, Second Awakening, and Soul Core cultivation 17 18.
- He teaches Qian Jun and Jiang Mo Soul Core and Spirit Tempering methods, along with principles of the Unyielding Staff Technique. He privately admits that his understanding of the technique’s detailed practice is limited 34.
Equipment and Items
- Radiance Bracelet — a seventh-tier storage Soul Tool that can hold living creatures and requires only a faint trickle of Soul Power to use 8.
- Jade pendant — a gift from Qian Daoliu that nourishes him and can provide protection or attack power 8.
- Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud / Sea God’s Heart — received from Xue Qinghe. Qian Zong stores it away because using it could alert the fragment of the Sea God’s consciousness within it 9 10.
Relationships
- Qian Renxue — his distant ancestor and protector. He warns her about the future, promises to protect her in turn, and becomes her trusted confidant 3 5 6 21.
- Qian Daoliu — accepts Qian Zong into the family, saves his life, and supports his plans while monitoring his recovery 2 3 4 7.
- Golden Crocodile Douluo and Light Feather Douluo — welcome him as family and pledge their support; Golden Crocodile is assigned to protect him 3 4 8.
- Ling Yuan — his personal guard and sworn older sister. He promises to help her become a Titled Douluo and seek a hundred-thousand-year ninth Soul Ring for her 22 23.
- Bibi Dong — Spirit Hall’s Pope and Qian Renxue’s mother. Qian Zong supports her goal of continental unification, but she views his growing influence as a threat 11 14 18.
Story Role and Major Arcs
- Spirit City reforms — after his appointment as Young Hall Master, Qian Zong renovates Spirit City and establishes the free Martial Soul Library, with public, member, and confidential tiers. He later proposes adding books from the Heaven Dou imperial archives 9 23 27.
- Continental strategy — he seeks to turn Spirit Hall’s popularity and resources into political power. When migration strains Spirit City, he restricts entry and plans to use the resulting crisis to press the empires over responsibility for people outside its walls 10 11 12.
- Star Luo library confrontation — after Princess Dai Yan attacks him and a clash knocks him down, Qian Zong exaggerates the impression of injury and publicly frames the Star Luo party’s actions as an assassination attempt. He calls on Spirit Hall’s Titled Douluo and law-enforcement forces to act against the delegation 25 28 29 32 34.
- Long-term ambition — beyond stopping Tang San, Qian Zong wants to unify Douluo Star and gather its people’s faith as a possible path to creating a powerful divine position. He regards this as a distant, unproven plan 28.
