Background and History
Jiang Hao’s parents were Shrek instructors and Inspection Corps members who died on a mission against Evil Soul Masters. His mother had a leg-based Body Martial Soul; his father possessed an Iron-Feathered Cat Owl Martial Soul. Their friend Qian Duoduo took Jiang Hao in and raised him at Shrek, where he was kept within the academy gates for protection 2. After Jiang Hao’s awakening, Qian pressed Shrek to provide the benefits owed to his parents’ child. Jiang Hao received a lakeside residence on Sea God Island 2.
His first Soul Beast expedition placed him with students under Xuan Zi’s supervision in the Star Dou Great Forest. Jiang Hao secretly deployed Clones during the disaster surrounding Zhang Lexuan’s battle with the Wolf King, then helped tend the survivors 3 5 7. On a later hunt, he chose the Gem Lanternfish over an offensive ring because he wanted physical strength and endurance to support his use of Soul Tools 12 13.
After defeating Zhou Yi in a costly arena match, Jiang Hao moved into Shrek City to become less dependent on his foster parents 19 20. The ring Qian gave him from his parents’ belongings contained three Soul Bones and a Body Tempering Method, which became central to his training 20 23 24.
Appearance
Jiang Hao is short enough to be mistaken for an older Outer Court student. His body visibly changes when he cultivates or activates his Martial Soul 1 18 53.
- Body Martial Soul manifestation: A humanoid phantom appears behind him; its appearance at awakening is accompanied by swelling muscles 1.
- Body tempering: Intensive practice gives his skin a bronze-gold sheen and his muscles a metallic density 24.
- Silver-Tier awakening: Silvery-white markings spread across his bronze-toned body 53.
Personality
Jiang Hao is ambitious but protective of his independence. He conceals his Clones because he believes exposure would make powerful institutions seek to control him, and he declines the Body Sect’s offers despite its ability to protect him 44 74. He is willing to confront stronger opponents, but also recognizes when he lacks the power to defeat them and prepares accordingly 40 42.
He directs his Clones firmly, assigning them work according to their abilities. The beast-tide defense changes his view of those fighting for him: seeing their injuries and courage, he resolves to equip them better 18 33. Although he resents Shrek’s treatment of his family, he remains grateful to Qian Duoduo and Xian Ling’er for raising him 2 53.
Abilities and Skills
Clones and shared Spiritual Sea
Jiang Hao produces an independent, obedient Clone each day. Thousands inhabit his Spiritual Sea, with distinct personalities and Martial Souls 1 13.
- He can borrow a Clone’s Martial Soul; Clones cannot borrow one another’s 3.
- When one advances in Soul Power level, the others rise to match, allowing even poorly talented Clones to obtain Soul Rings 3.
- Their numbers help defend his Spiritual Sea from the Gem Lanternfish’s spiritual attack and distribute the strain of reading another person’s memories 13 189.
Complete Body Martial Soul
His Martial Soul enhances his entire body rather than a single body part 2 32.
- It grants exceptional strength and rapid recovery; bruising fades without a borrowed healing skill 11.
- Cell Activation stimulates cells with Soul Power to increase physical strength. Its effect is doubled when Jiang Hao uses it on himself; he later applies it as a domain to strengthen teammates’ vitality and physical reactions 13 130.
- After Silver-Tier awakening, he can shape his body into weapons and reproduce a Clone’s Martial Soul and skill through it, as demonstrated with Ice Sword Bro’s freezing slash 53.
Body tempering and Soul Power compression
- The inherited Body Tempering Method combines punches, palm strikes, kicks, breathing, and Soul Power circulation to strengthen his physique 24.
- Jiang Hao discovers that healed injuries can develop more efficient meridian paths. He deliberately injures and repairs parts of his body to expand those paths 42 53.
- He compresses gaseous Soul Power into liquid drops; by Chapter 55, he has condensed three, increasing his available power to roughly 130% of its former total 42 55.
Fire Gazing and combined techniques
Martial Soul resonance with Xiaoxiao’s Three-Life Soul-Suppressing Cauldron gives Jiang Hao the Fire Gazing trait. Its fire-attribute Soul Power settles near his heart and burns away a lingering Evil Soul Master aura 37.
- Their Martial Soul Fusion Skill lets him control her three cauldrons and unleash the Blazing Sun Five-Finger Soul-Suppressing Fist. Redirecting the attack severely injures his arm 40.
- Borrowed powers also support stealth, disguise, Soul Search, and travel through the undead demiplane; these are not all abilities native to his Body Martial Soul 57 181 189.
Equipment, Weapons and Items
- Heart External Soul Bone — circulates Soul Power through his blood, aids recovery, and greatly increases cultivation speed 14 18.
- Defensive Soul Tools — wears numerous automatic protections; his childhood equipment includes a sixth-tier Invincible Shield 2.
- Gravity-shifting greatsword — grows dramatically heavier when fed Soul Power 15 20.
- Parents’ Soul Tool Ring — contains three Soul Bones, keepsakes, and the Body Tempering Method 20 23 24.
Relationships
- Qian Duoduo and Xian Ling’er — foster parents who raised and protected him; Jiang Hao values their care without treating it as an obligation 1 2 53.
- The Clones — his independent-minded brothers and collaborators, connected through Soul Power and the Spiritual Sea 1 3 33.
- Ma Xiaotao — initially distant toward him, later a trusted but sometimes troubled companion. Her uncontrolled Evil Fire leaves him gravely wounded 3 53 61.
- Xiaoxiao — travels and fights beside him; their Martial Souls resonate and produce a fusion skill 30 37 40.
- Xuan Zi — a Shrek elder Jiang Hao distrusts and resents, particularly after the forest expedition 1 3 7.
- Du Busi — Body Sect leader who offers Jiang Hao support and names him the sect’s prospective successor, despite Jiang Hao’s refusal to join 74.
- Ju Zi — coerced into assisting his Wang Shaojie impersonation; their publicly claimed relationship is part of that cover 189 192 193.
