Background

Su Yan was born in Holy Soul Village and raised by an old farmer after being orphaned. He was a former Earthling reincarnated into the Douluo Continent, retaining knowledge of the setting and its future events. 2 861

Shortly after the Douluo World Chat Group appeared, Su Yan received a beginner gift pack containing the Nine Yang Divine Skill, Six Meridian Divine Sword, Lingbo Weibu, a Space Ring, and Martial Soul Evolution. The techniques were directly bestowed at maximum proficiency and increased his Soul Power. 1 2

His Martial Soul awakening produced only 0.25 innate Soul Power. The mutation nevertheless gave his monkey Martial Soul physical form and independent intelligence, distinguishing it from ordinary Beast Martial Souls. Su Yan spent two and a half years teaching Little Monkey to cultivate Soul Power, allowing both to reach Level 28 before the Group Chat’s appearance. 2

Before receiving his Golden Finger, Su Yan deliberately kept his distance from Xiao Wu and Tang San because he feared provoking Tang Hao or Tang San. Although he had invented a potentially continent-unifying weapon at four years old, he concluded that advanced knowledge without sufficient strength or powerful allies could bring disaster rather than security. 185

Su Yan trained in secret despite his stalled early cultivation and later burst through the limitations expected of him. At Nuoding Academy, he publicly revealed his Level 38 cultivation during a challenge against Tang San. After unsuccessfully attempting to recruit Tang San, Oscar, Dai Mubai, and Ma Hongjun, Su Yan left Shrek Academy with his companions. He then returned with the teachers and students of an academy he had founded, “A Little Stronger Than The Opposite Side,” ostensibly for an academic exchange. 267

As the Group Chat expanded into later Douluo eras, Su Yan traveled between worlds, supplied members with cultivation resources, and helped establish or support renewed Martial Soul Hall organizations outside his original world. Su Yan later articulated a broader vision for the continent: free foundational education, including food and lodging for impoverished children, alongside the spread of technological knowledge that ordinary people can use without Spirit Power. His explanation won the sincere respect of Qian Daoliu and the Martial Soul Hall elders, whom he tasked with preparing academies and recruiting suitable educators. 1071 1075

His influence on later-era cultivation became publicly evident during the Soul Master Competition. Jing Hongchen credited him with Meng Hongchen’s growth of more than twenty Soul Power levels in a year, while Xuanzi privately recognized that Su Yan, rather than Shrek Academy, had been cultivating the extraordinary talents appearing on Martial Soul Hall’s team. 1115

Su Yan recognizes that his interventions can alter the future he observed. He consequently distinguishes between the original course of events and the version changed by his presence, even while continuing to use his foreknowledge to steer others’ decisions. 16 231

To force Tang San’s breakthrough from Level 29 to Level 30, he took him into a small forest and beat him, then presented the ordeal as a cultivation method that tested resolve. Zhao Wuji and the others ultimately accepted this explanation. 169

Su Yan also challenged the assumption that Soul Beasts were uniformly hostile, arguing that they could possess kind or evil personalities just as humans could. He awakened Qingyuan Miaodao Zhenjun, a second mutated Martial Soul associated with Erlang Shen, gaining a third eye and Three-Pointed Two-Edged Spear. 251

The awakening produced lightning, thunder, and golden light, causing observers to compare it to the descent of a deity. Little Monkey became excited by the new Martial Soul and departed for the Star Dou Great Forest to catch Soul Beasts for him. 251

Before adding rings, Su Yan learned that this Martial Soul followed a special progression: its first ring required Level 100, later rings required another ten levels apiece, and each unlocked a level of Eight-Nine Arcane Art together with an exclusive magical treasure. Rival Academy and Shrek Exchange

After Tang San, Oscar, Dai Mubai, and Ma Hongjun declined his recruitment, Su Yan departed Shrek Academy with Ning Rongrong and the others. Before one of his journeys to Douluo Dalu 2, he agreed to bring Bibi Dong so that she could investigate Soul Tools and promised to make something that would conceal her aura. A later Group Chat upgrade arrived while he was preparing for secluded cultivation. Although Su Yan initially rejected Bibi Dong’s attempts to recruit him, he consistently distinguished Martial Soul Hall’s public services from the actions of its corrupt leadership. When the elders suggested that he chose Martial Soul Hall solely because of his relationships with Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue, Su Yan rejected the explanation. He pointed out that Ning Rongrong, Tang Yuehua, and Liu Erlong were also his women, despite their origins in the three great sects. 1065

He instead emphasized the Hall’s work awakening Martial Souls for ordinary people. Su Yan clarified to Qian Daoliu and the Martial Soul Hall elders that his intended unification was not merely the creation of a larger empire. Moved by his goals, Qian Daoliu, Golden Crocodile Douluo, and the other elders apologized for their earlier judgment of him. Su Yan then instructed them to begin establishing academies and recruiting capable, idealistic educators in preparation for his return from the Douluo Dalu 2 world. 1075

His preparation of future leaders included practical exposure to commoners’ lives. He explained to Qian Renxue, Ye Guyi, Tang Ya, and the others that he wanted them to understand how ordinary people lived before they established and managed a renewed Martial Soul Hall. 607

Su Yan used Group Chat rewards, treatment methods, and humanoid-transformation resources to aid Soul Beast figures including Gu Yuena and the Snow Empress. Douluo Dalu 2 Soul Master Competition

Martial Soul Hall’s opening match against Nuocheng Academy publicly demonstrated the results of Su Yan’s cultivation support. Jiang Nannan, Meng Hongchen, Ye Guyi, Tang Ya, Ling Luochen, and Wang Dong’er revealed Soul Sage cultivation and exceptional ten-thousand-year Soul Rings, while captain Ma Xiaotao announced herself as a Level 99 Limit Douluo with six red-gold rings, each bearing nine golden lines. 1115

The display shocked spectators from Shrek Academy and the Sun Moon Empire. Jing Hongchen attributed Meng Hongchen’s rapid improvement to Su Yan, and Xuanzi acknowledged privately that the former Shrek associates’ development reflected Su Yan’s cultivation efforts rather than the academy’s. 1115
