Background / History
Undercover in Heaven Dou
Qian Renxue undertakes her infiltration partly to avenge her father, Qian Xunji. She also wants to prove her strength after growing up feeling hated by her mother, Bibi Dong. By the time she prepares to abandon the imperial identity, she describes the undertaking as fifteen years undercover 101 112.
As Xue Qinghe, she builds the reputation of a gentle, capable prince. Her rescue of the wounded independent Soul Master Qi Heng brings her an important supporter and teacher of rulership, helping establish the political capital behind her elevation to Crown Prince 123.
Meeting Jiang Mingyang
At the Jiang residence, Qian Renxue senses a resonance between her Martial Soul and Jiang Mingyang’s. She quickly brings him to the imperial capital for special cultivation, presenting their compatibility as an opportunity to strengthen the imperial family 3 4.
Their fusion practice creates the Sacred Angel Holy Sword. When Jiang recognizes that the supposed prince is a woman, she fabricates a story that Emperor Xue Ye raised her as a boy because his sons were unsuitable heirs. Later, she deliberately leaves clues to her Spirit Hall identity, hoping he will support her if the disguise is exposed 5 6.
After an unusual fusion episode exposes her true appearance, Jiang promises to protect her secret on the condition that she not harm his adoptive family. She keeps him close as the Crown Prince’s adviser. He subsequently asks to begin a romantic relationship, and she agrees 6 7.
Taking the Heaven Dou Throne
Qian Renxue initially imagines becoming a deliberately cruel emperor, provoking Jiang’s rebellion, and then returning as empress of his new state. Seeing his naturally formed Imperial Jade Seal strengthens her resolve to pursue a future with him 17 22.
The Balak rebellion and Emperor Xue Ye’s failing health give her an opportunity to accelerate the succession. She poisons Xue Ye, takes charge of the government, and uses an outward show of filial reluctance to make her accession appear dutiful. She later explains that suspicion cannot unseat her when Xue Ye is dead, Xue Beng is under her control, and potential opponents have little to gain 24 25 28.
After the funeral, she ascends as Xue Qinghe under the reign title Xuande. She immediately promotes Jiang to Duke Tianya. To explain his extraordinary favor and frequent private visits without exposing her identity, she encourages the court to believe that the male emperor has taken Jiang as his lover 29.
Sharing Power and Completing Her Revenge
As emperor, Qian Renxue renews the campaign against Balak’s refusal to pay taxes. She also supports Jiang’s pursuit of greater strength, though his departure for Slaughter City leaves her deeply afraid that he will not return 30 44.
She gradually entrusts him with government business, formally appointing him to preside over state affairs. His assumption of these duties gives her more time to cultivate, although her earlier focus on imperial rule has already drawn criticism from the Asura God King 40 84 86.
When Snake Lance and Porcupinefish Douluo report Tang Hao’s death, Qian Renxue personally checks Jiang for injuries before accepting that he is safe. Jiang tells her that her father has been avenged. With that burden lifted, she admits that being with him matters more to her than becoming the continent’s strongest person 101.
Abandoning Xue Qinghe
The renewed Balak rebellion gives the couple an opportunity to dismantle the old dynasty. They plan for Xue Qinghe to lead a campaign and apparently die in battle, creating a succession crisis that Jiang can exploit. Qian Renxue welcomes the prospect of living openly as a woman beside him 102.
Before leaving the throne, she backs Jiang’s territorial ambitions, agrees to grant him a princely title, and offers Soul Masters loyal to the Qian Family. She also approves using the expedition to eliminate senior imperial loyalists 104 113.
At the Fayas River, an enemy attack strikes the imperial carriage as arranged. A burned, unrecognizable body is intended to stand in for the emperor, while Qian Renxue survives and resumes her female identity. Jiang publicly mourns Xue Qinghe and calls for vengeance 123.
Empress of Mysterious Heaven
Qian Renxue intends to let former officials privately infer that she was Xue Qinghe without confirming it herself. The ambiguity can attract supporters to Jiang while preserving her exceptional standing among his partners. Familiar imperial gestures soon lead perceptive ministers toward that conclusion 112 125.
In Austria’s palace, Jiang seats her beside him on the throne, publicly demonstrating her influence. He later entrusts preparations for his accession to her, and she becomes empress of the new Mysterious Heaven Empire 126 128 129.
She continues governing alongside him and supports his Asura inheritance, offering to seek Qian Daoliu’s protection. At the founding sacrifice, she accompanies Jiang to the altar’s fifth tier before he proceeds alone. After his transformation into a Titled Douluo, she remains his political partner and helps discuss the mysteries surrounding Slaughter City 130 131 132 133 139.
Appearance
Qian Renxue has golden hair, fair skin, vivid red lips, and a slender waist. Her true appearance is distinct from the graceful male prince she impersonates 22 27.
- Hairstyle: Wears her golden hair in a ru yi bun secured with a white-jade plum-blossom hairpin during Jiang’s visit to the Eastern Palace 27.
- Private clothing: A deep-blue brocade gown embroidered with small white plum blossoms and bound by a white brocade sash 27.
- Other attire: White-and-gold clothing appears during her later life in the imperial palace 101.
- Xue Qinghe disguise: A broad forehead, jade-fair face, and noble bearing characterize her first appearance at the Jiang residence 3.
Personality
Qian Renxue combines pride and determination with considerable patience and acting skill. As Xue Qinghe, she maintains a generous public manner while recruiting useful allies, fabricating explanations, and turning succession rituals into political protection. Her confidence rests on control of the court rather than an expectation that her actions will remain unsuspected 4 5 25 28.
She is also a diligent administrator. Jiang initially has little advice to offer because she can manage government business without him. Even after their relationship develops, she repeatedly returns to reviewing memorials and later makes their joint administration substantially faster 7 54 104 131.
Around Jiang, her commanding manner gives way to teasing, shyness, and concern. Her fear during his absences and her insistence on checking his injuries contrast with the composure of her imperial persona. Completing her revenge allows her to speak openly about her mother’s rejection and reconsider the importance of power 44 54 101 130.
Her acceptance of other women does not mean an absence of jealousy. She angrily investigates Jiang’s interest in Ye Lingling and Zhu Zhuqing, insists on retaining her rightful place as his wife, and later lies awake when he spends the night with Ye Lingling 68 112 137.

Notable Quotes
“Because Xue Ye is dead, and I have Xue Beng completely under my thumb. Speaking up would achieve nothing, so why would they throw their own lives into it?” 28
“You... make sure you come back safe!” 30
“There are still quite a few Soul Masters in Spirit Hall who are loyal to my Qian Family. I’ll send them over in a little while.” 104
Trivia
- After abandoning Xue Qinghe, her habitual imperial gestures help ministers recognize the connection between the supposedly dead emperor and the woman beside Jiang 125.
- While reading the General History of the Continent, she confidently anticipates becoming a subject of later historical accounts 127.
- A Chronicle of Empress Qian interlude calls her and Jiang the Two Sages and credits her with mending the heavens using Angel Divine Light. These claims appear in the chronicle-style passage, not as a documented cultivation breakthrough in the contemporary storyline 75.
