Chen Qingxuan served as the Azure Cloud Sect cultivator overseeing Zhou Qing's cohort of Immortal Seedlings. During the pre-entry “pleasure” trial, he silently observed Zhou Qing correctly infer that the indulgences were meant to temper the heart rather than entice the candidates. Impressed by Zhou Qing's composure and devotion to cultivation, Chen confirmed the assessment and began viewing him as an exceptional prospect. 6 7

Although sect rules normally did not admit disciples with only one Spiritual Root, Chen brought Zhou Qing into the Azure Cloud Sect. He later explained that Zhou Qing was the first person he had encountered who seemed born with a Dao Heart, and that rejecting such potential would be a mistake. 18

As an instructor, Chen taught the cohort Qi absorption, Qi circulation, cultivation-method grades, and the dangers of unstable mental states.
