Camiro stared fixedly at Xu Yi as he walked in smiling, seething with resentment.
Of all the times this fellow could have arrived, he had chosen the very moment Camiro was about to unveil the Great Merchant Guild's new magic machinery. It was almost as if he had timed it deliberately.
Camiro had finally whetted everyone's appetite and focused all their attention on this new product. Yet the instant Xu Yi entered, he drew everyone's attention away again, rendering all Camiro's earlier efforts useless.
As these thoughts ran through his mind, Camiro took a deep breath and forcibly suppressed his hatred. He struggled to put on a sincere smile and raised his voice to address Xu Yi. "President Xu, I thought you wouldn't dare come."
Wouldn't dare?
Hearing those words, everyone below the stage couldn't help turning back toward Camiro with strange expressions.
Wasn't the President of the Great Merchant Guild being a little too arrogant?
He actually said Xu Yi wouldn't dare? Why wouldn't he?
Xu Yi seemed somewhat surprised as well. Following the path the crowd automatically cleared for him, he walked up to the stage and looked at Camiro in surprise. "Camiro, it's been a while. I never expected you to become the President of the Great Merchant Guild. This really is a surprise."
The people around him were even more astonished.
Rhine, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Karma Daily, couldn't help asking, "President Xu, did you and President Camiro know each other before?"
Xu Yi nodded with a smile. "Yes. We both used to work at Camilla's Mage Tower, in the same research laboratory, in fact."
Come to think of it, Camiro's name did sound rather like Great Mage Camilla's. Back when they worked in the laboratory, many of their colleagues had teased Camiro about it.
