"Mr. President, actually, both the Magic Research Institute and our Magic Machine Tool Research Center have had some fairly well-developed ideas for new magic machine tools for a while now. But we've run into a very important problem during development, and it's almost impossible to solve..."
Seeing Canby's troubled expression, Xu Yi interrupted without a second thought. "It's a materials problem, right?"
Canby paused, then quickly replied, "Yes, exactly. Your main requirement for the new magic machine tools is to increase their power output across the board. I understand your thinking-you want to use higher-specification magic machine tools to build more powerful magic machinery."
"Right. If our magic machine tools have specifications that are too low, they'll limit our ability to manufacture large magic machinery. So we have to solve the problems with our magic machine tools first," Xu Yi said with a nod.
Canby gave a wry smile. "But once we increase their power output, the demands on the materials become much higher. For instance, when we were developing a brand-new Medium Model magic press recently, the machine could withstand no more than ten thousand stamping cycles before serious cracks appeared, leaving it unable to continue operating."
"Ten thousand?" Xu Yi frowned. "Isn't that far too few? Haven't you tried other ways to alleviate the problem?"
"We have. For example, we covered the outside of the magic machine tool with soft clay to absorb vibrations and reduce the impact on the machine, but none of it made much difference," Canby said with a sigh. "Ultimately, to achieve the required stamping effect, the machine itself has to withstand the corresponding force. There's no way around that. So in the end, we have to solve the problem with the materials used to cast the magic machine tools."
Xu Yi also smiled
