The Sandy River flowed east from the Falling Rain Forest. As it passed through the Milando Duchy, it was renamed the Milando River. Yet after flowing another seven hundred kilometers east, crossing the duchy's not particularly extensive territory, it entered another duchy-the Norton Duchy.
Since the river traveled less than fifty kilometers through the Norton Duchy before emptying into a broad, clear lake, the Nortonians had not taken the opportunity to rename it the Norton River. Instead, it retained the name Milando River.
However, after flowing into the lake, which the locals called Mirror Lake, it emerged again as a river stretching northeast, more than twice as wide as before. There, it took on an entirely new identity, becoming the Norton Duchy's largest and most important river-the Anfield River.
Legend had it that more than three thousand years ago, Anfield, the most renowned female warrior among humans, had been bathing in Mirror Lake when she happened upon a powerful member of the Elf Race. The two fought a fierce battle on the lake, eventually tearing a massive breach in its banks. Water poured out through it, forming a river.
Later generations therefore named it the Anfield River.
Near the lakeshore, where the Anfield River flowed out of Mirror Lake, stood a town called Noxus Town.
With Mirror Lake nearby, the borders of both the Milando Duchy and the Rulson Kingdom within easy reach, the lake and the Anfield River at its back, and the Norton Duchy's main road running through it, Noxus Town was much larger than the duchy's other towns. It could even rival some cities.
Moreover, anyone traveling to the Candel Empire from either the Milando Duchy or the Rulson Kingdom had to pass through here, keeping Noxus Town bustling all year round.
