By the end of October, a chill had crept into the weather. People on the streets of Bunta City had begun wrapping themselves snugly in coats and long trousers.
It was naturally warmer indoors than out on the streets, but even so, the season for short shirts and skirts had passed. Stille, Avita, and Akali had all changed into loose, long house dresses that completely concealed their lovely figures.
Xu Yi glanced at the three of them, and a trace of disappointment actually flitted through his mind.
He immediately suppressed that inexplicable feeling, however, and returned his attention to a glass sphere on the table.
Not every manufacturing craft on the Sains Continent was primitive. Glassmaking, for instance, was excellent. The glass sphere before him was perfectly transparent, without a single visible impurity. Its thickness was uniform and its surface incredibly smooth. Even on Earth, it would have been considered a fine piece of glasswork.
"So this is a Magic Crystal Lamp?" After examining the sphere for a while, Xu Yi asked Stille, "This thing alone costs two hundred gold coins?"
Stille nodded. "Yes, and I only managed to get it by asking Grandmother for help. Otherwise, you couldn't buy one even if you had the money."
Xu Yi was speechless.
At the end of the day, this thing merely served as a light bulb, yet they dared charge as much as two hundred gold coins for it. Worse still, having the money didn't guarantee you could buy one. He simply couldn't understand it.
One evening, while lighting a candle at home, Xu Yi had had a sudden flash of inspiration. Since lighting candles all the time was such a nuisance, why not develop a light bulb?
In fact, he had already had that idea when he first arrived in
