Following deliberations by its parliament, the Mages' Guild Headquarters had decided to approve and support the Xinfei Merchant Guild's proposal to establish a Magic Industry College that would teach low-rank mages the theoretical foundations of knowledge related to magic bows.
The Mages' Guild Headquarters stated that, in the name of the Sains Continent Mages' Guild, it would formally acknowledge the existence of the magic industry sector to all mages across the continent.
Receiving formal recognition from the Mages' Guild Headquarters meant that the magic industry sector, currently represented by the Xinfei Merchant Guild, had gained the guild's official acknowledgment and would be clearly distinguished from the continent's other commercial industries.
Mages across the continent more or less looked down on merchants, but to earn a living, they always had to force themselves to deal with them.
Now that the Mages' Guild Headquarters had singled out the magic industry sector for special recognition, it gave many mages a legitimate reason to enter the field.
For Xu Yi, that was already enough.
The difficulties the Xinfei Merchant Guild had faced when recruiting mages before had largely stemmed from this question of pride.
For advanced mages, working for a merchant guild already meant lowering their status. Joining one merely to serve as some researcher whose role they did not even understand was even harder to accept.
