Doram stood atop a fortress, his Force-Feedback Power Armour reflecting a dull gleam in the sunlight of Colchis. His gaze pierced the smoke-filled sky, fixed on the steadily approaching enemies.

His fingers gripped a Bolter designed for mortals, while the mortal soldiers around him stood equally ready for battle.

More and more enemies were closing in on Colchis.

The warp rifts in the sky tore through the fabric of reality like hideous wounds. Countless daemons poured through them, blotting out the sky like locusts.

Their forms crowded the expanse of stars, a dark cloud of flesh and Chaos energy slowly descending toward the surface of Colchis.

The closest enemies had already reached the edge of orbit.

They were Rot Fly Swarms that worshipped the Chaos God Nurgle, and they had already latched onto the hulls of the Star Fortresses orbiting Colchis.

With claws and weapons blessed by the power of decay, they tore at the Star Fortresses' armour and gnawed at their structures with their teeth, trying to breach those sturdy fortifications.

Countless daemons clung to the exteriors of the Star Fortresses, covering their hulls like ants.

The Nurgle Daemons spat viscous green pus from their mouths. It landed on the Star Fortresses' armour with a corrosive hiss.

Empowered by Nurgle, the acid ate through metal at a visible rate, burning holes through thick armour plates that billowed green smoke.

Then the daemon hordes swarmed through those holes, flooding the Star Fortresses' internal passageways like water bursting through a dam.

The soldiers of the Holy Word Army, already standing ready, swiftly took up defensive positions under orders from Commanders at every level.

They set up Heavy Bolters at corners in the passageways, planted Melta Bombs at stairway entrances, and positioned their Lasguns behind cover at critical junctions.
