Inside the central control room, Angron leaned his towering body slightly forward, veins bulging along his muscular arms as he gripped the two battleaxes that had drunk their fill of blood.
Iliya stood like a statue of flowing metal, his nanometal body reflecting the dim lights, the edges of the enormous scythes that formed his arms glinting with a deadly sheen.
The next second, both moved at once!
Angron unleashed a battle cry that shook the entire compartment. His massive body erupted into astonishing speed that belied his size, his twin axes sweeping in from either side with air-rending shrieks, closing on Iliya like a blood-red whirlwind.
Iliya crossed his arms, his nanometal scythes tracing perfect defensive arcs to meet the axe blades with precision.
Clang!!!
The deafening clash of metal exploded like thunder. Even the Space Marines watching from a distance felt their armour vibrating from the shock wave.
Axe blades and scythes locked together, showering dazzling sparks. Angron clearly had the advantage in strength. Each savage blow sent violent tremors through Iliya's nanometal scythes, even chipping off tiny fragments of metal.
Yet those fragments did not scatter. As though alive, they curved through the air and swiftly flew back into Iliya's body, merging with him once more and even making the scythe edges look sharper and more vicious.
His structure is adapting! Evolving! Company Captain Paulus's heart sank as he immediately grasped the limitations of conventional attacks. He could not stand by while the Primarch faced such a bizarre enemy alone.
"Everyone! Give the Primarch covering fire! Target that heretic! Fire!"
At his command, the surviving Word Bearers Warriors immediately sprang into action.
The heavily armoured warriors in Cataphractii Terminator armour aimed their heavy Autocannons and Meltagun Guns at Iliya.
In an instant, bolts poured out like a
