His right hand gripped the Greatsword's hilt tightly. Its blade shrieked against the air as he hurtled downward, its tip aimed straight at the crimson figure gathering immense psychic energy atop the Pyramid.

His gaze was fixed on Magnus, his golden eyes burning with the cold resolve of a judge pronouncing a death sentence.

Wind howled in his ears, psychic energy surged around his body, and the whole world seemed to slow and sharpen in his perception.

He could see every subtle change in Magnus's expression, the psychic radiance swirling around his body, and the gem flashing ceaselessly atop his staff.

"Magnus! I am Lorgar Aurelian! Today, I will kill you!"

Lorgar's voice thundered across Prospero's sky, amplified to its utmost by psychic energy, echoing throughout the entire star system and reverberating in every mind.

By the time his words fell silent, less than ten meters separated him from Magnus.

He could clearly see his own reflection in Magnus's single eye, which burned with blue flame. He could see the mocking smile that still lingered at the corner of Magnus's mouth, and the gem atop the staff in his hand releasing one final, dazzling burst of light.

Lorgar drew ever closer.

His blade traced a golden arc through the air. Bearing his full weight and the speed of his descent, all the strength and will of a Primarch, his loyalty to the Emperor and his determination to protect humanity, it plunged toward Magnus's chest.

BOOM!!!

The blade struck, piercing Magnus's body.
