Background / History
Du Busi’s elder brother, Du Bisou, was the previous Body Sect master. A century before the confrontation over Chen An, Du Bisou fought Mu En and died at his hands. Du Busi regards his brother’s death as a consequence of inferior strength rather than an unresolved argument over right and wrong 22 31.
Du Busi believes Mu En may have died from injuries inflicted by Du Bisou. In reality, Mu En’s paralysis resulted from attempting to refine a Dragon Core; he publicly attributed it to the battle to conceal the embarrassing truth 22 30.
The Body Sect’s succession is Du Busi’s central concern. He alone has achieved a full gold-tier second awakening, which is required to inherit the sect’s seed of inheritance. Chen An’s exceptional True Self martial soul therefore represents a possible answer to the sect’s lack of a successor 16 36.
Appearance
- Normal appearance: A tall old man with a ruddy complexion, dark-green hair and eyes, and a completely bald crown 29.
- Martial soul possession: His body grows more than tenfold, with dark-green skin and enormous muscles resembling slabs of granite 19 29.
- Gold-tier second awakening: A hundred-meter golden giant appears behind him and merges into his body, leaving him surrounded by a golden halo like a majestic divine statue 32.
Personality
Du Busi is domineering, fiercely protective of the Body Sect, and quick to treat an injury to its disciples as an insult to the entire institution. His belief that all body martial soul masters belong to the sect leads him to claim Chen An without the boy’s consent. He chooses an armed assault over negotiation to defend the sect’s reputation and secure its future 19 29.
His commitment to succession can become ruthless. He is willing to burn his vitality for Chen An and, when defeated by Mu En, threatens to destroy Shrek City through a dying counterattack—even knowing that such an act could bring the Body Sect’s annihilation 30 34 35.
Despite his recklessness, he recognizes when his leverage has disappeared. Once Mu En restores his peak strength, Du Busi changes tactics rather than pursuing certain death. He also honors the subsequent contest’s result, rescues endangered followers, and accepts withdrawal while openly promising to return 36.
Abilities & Skills
Poison-Attribute Body Martial Soul
Du Busi’s martial soul is his own body, making it a highest-caliber body martial soul. Its attribute is poison, unlike Chen An’s combined physical and mental attributes 4 18.
- Martial soul possession enlarges his body and produces overwhelming dark-green soul power 19 29.
- His pressure can crush a Soul Saint disciple to the floor, while his released power fractures surrounding space 19.
- He defeats Xuan Zi without initially using his second awakening, sending him more than a thousand meters backward 30.
Gold-Tier Second Awakening
His strongest demonstrated enhancement manifests as a golden giant that merges into his body 32.
- Grants a stated 300% boost, bringing his combat strength to the Limit Douluo level 32.
- Consumes enormous amounts of soul power and burns his vitality 32.
- Does not provide a true Limit Douluo’s cultivation realm or equivalent mastery of techniques; Mu En exploits this difference to defeat him 34.
- Makes him the Body Sect’s only documented full gold-tier second-awakened member and the current holder of its inheritance 16 36.
Soul Rings
- Possesses nine soul rings 19 29.
- His seventh, eighth, and ninth rings are red Hundred Thousand Year Soul Rings 29.
- His three red rings give him a foundation comparable to Mu En’s ring configuration, though not equivalent combat mastery 34.
Energy and Spatial Techniques
- Dark-green vortex: Absorbs Xuan Zi’s meteor attack during their aerial duel 30.
- Spatial black holes: Uses them against Mu En’s golden avatar; Mu En’s Dragon Emperor Quakes the Realm overwhelms them 32.
- All-out punch: Combines martial soul origin, soul power, spiritual power, and life force into a massive strike. It tears space but loses to Mu En’s Dragon Emperor’s Evil-Breaking Strike, badly damaging Du Busi’s fist 34.
Spiritual Power
- His spiritual cultivation stands at the peak of formless substance, on par with Xuan Zi’s 18.
- He has not reached formed substance, a requirement for becoming a true Limit Douluo 18.
- His spiritual perception and instincts warn him of the lethal danger posed by Mu En’s restored peak state 36.
Soul Core Detonation
- Threatens to detonate his Soul Core as a final counterattack if Mu En kills him 35.
- Both recognize that this could destroy Shrek City during their initial confrontation 35.
- The threat loses its effectiveness once Mu En restores his peak strength with the Golden Tree’s support 36.
- Du Busi does not carry out the detonation 36.
Equipment / Items
- Seed of inheritance — The Body Sect’s legacy is currently entrusted to Du Busi. Only a body martial soul master with a gold-tier second awakening can inherit it; its specific powers are not described 36.
Relationships

- Mu En — His brother’s killer and principal opponent at Shrek. Du Busi ultimately agrees not to attack the academy again while Mu En remains alive 31 36.
- Du Weiming — Body Sect elder who attempts to seize Chen An. Du Busi saves him from Elder Song’s finishing attack 34 36.

- The Body Sect loses one Titled Douluo elder and four Soul Douluo disciples, with numerous others injured. Shrek loses two Titled Douluos, alongside student and teacher casualties 36.
- Du Busi accepts the loss, withdraws, and declares that the Body Sect will return after Mu En’s death 36.
Aftermath
- The invasion’s casualties lead Shrek students to blame and ostracize Chen An, despite his lack of control over the conflict 38.
- Chen An later leaves Shrek and chooses to seek the Body Sect as the institution best suited to his True Self martial soul. The provided chapters do not show him meeting Du Busi afterward 50 51.
