Background / History
Before the turn of the millennium, Blue Star’s history was effectively identical to that of Chu Zhou’s original Earth, apart from the planet’s name. Afterward, some celebrities, entrepreneurs, and other prominent individuals differed, while national development remained broadly similar 1.
On June 2, 2024, Huaguo successfully collected samples from the far side of the moon and returned them to Blue Star. Not long afterward, a meteor struck the North Pole in circumstances that defied the nations’ understanding. Spiritual energy awakening, mutations, and human supernatural abilities became imminent, while the Firmament Ledger offered access to the cultivation techniques needed for the new era 1.
Chu Zhou arrived on Blue Star almost half a month before the Ledger opened, retaining his original body. His identification, SIM card, financial accounts, and existing contacts did not function normally in this parallel world. He secured lodging and support through Meng Ziwei before entering the Dou Qi Continent 1 2.
Geography
- North Pole — Site of the mysterious meteor impact preceding spiritual energy revival 1.
- Hang City — Chu Zhou’s arrival location and the city where Meng Ziwei lives 1 16.
- Yangtze River villa — A Meng family property near Hang City, with mountains behind it and the river across the road. Chu Zhou and Meng Ziwei choose it as a base for obtaining spirit-beast meat 28 29.
- Countries — Huaguo, America, Japan, Korea, and India are among the nations whose citizens and institutions participate in the cultivation race 7 16 37.
Spiritual Energy Revival
Spirit Beasts and Cultivation Resources
- Spiritual energy revival produces spirit beasts and natural treasures, making Blue Star a cultivation-resource source rather than merely a place to return between visits to the Dou Qi Continent 17 21.
- Spirit-beast meat strengthens meridians and accelerates Dou Qi cultivation. First-rank meat is especially useful during the Dou Qi stages, but provides a smaller supplementary benefit after reaching Dou Zhe 15 21.
- Fresh late-first-rank meat gives a stronger boost: after eating meat from a silver wolf killed by Chu Zhou, Meng Ziwei advances to seventh-stage Dou Qi 32.
- Second-tier spirit-beast meat later supports Meng Ziwei’s breakthrough to Dou Zhe 46.
- Hunting is dangerous. Meng Ziwei reports that bringing down a first-rank beast while preserving its meat normally requires a platoon 32.
- Spirit-beast meat becomes increasingly scarce and valuable. Government-controlled supply and demand encourage Chu Zhou to establish a private hunting base 28.
Technology
- Following the revival, high-precision and high-density weapons can no longer be used, although various firearms and artillery remain functional 27.
- Phones, social media, and online news remain important sources of official announcements, cultivation information, and public reactions to Ledger achievements 15 16 21.
Possible Higher-Level Cultivation
- Chu Zhou speculates that Blue Star’s emerging spiritual energy might be comparable to the Great Thousand World’s energy and could offer an alternative route to Dou Di 21 28.
- This remains unconfirmed. At the time of his speculation, he cannot directly sense that spiritual energy through the Azure Flame Soul-Refining Art, although eating spirit-beast meat benefits his cultivation 28.
Connection to the Firmament Ledger
Entry and Wristwatch Grades
Residents enter the Dou Qi Continent through Firmament Wristwatches. Watch grade determines access to starting locations, soul attributes, talents, and identities 1 2 3 7.
| Wristwatch | Documented Starting Privileges |
|---|---|
| Standard | Random placement and no assigned identity. Although initially advertised as providing safe-zone entry, participants report appearing in hostile locations and losing lives immediately 1 3. |
| Special-grade | Choice of starting location and soul attribute, plus a randomly assigned identity 2 3. |
| Supreme Edition | Direct selection of the Central Plains or a Life Secret Realm; a suitable Dou Qi attribute; a chance to awaken a special talent; and a choice among identities or a randomized identity. No higher edition exists 7. |
Participant Rules and Communication
- Official information states that participants have ten lives. Early entrants report losing lives to hostile inhabitants and dangerous starting situations 3.
- The wristwatch provides character information and public chat channels, but no built-in trading, friend, or storage system 3.
- Chat channels operate at world, continental, regional, provincial, and local levels. Daily posting limits double with each major cultivation-realm advancement 3.
- Unlike Blue Star’s online platforms, the Dou Qi Continent’s chat channels cannot have keywords censored or users muted. Information about the cultivation benefits of spirit-beast meat circulates there despite some residents not encountering it on Blue Star 21.
- Native factions eventually investigate participants as Otherworlders, recognizing their unexplained disappearances, assigned identities, and apparent immortality 38.
Cross-World Item Transfer
- Ordinary travel initially does not allow possessions to be carried between Blue Star and the Dou Qi Continent 17.
- Chu Zhou’s hidden Demon Saint Space allows him to bring objects from the Dou Qi Continent to Blue Star 27.
- The transfer is initially one-way: neither his phone nor a previously retrieved gold coin can be stored back into the space from Blue Star 27.
- He uses this exception to give Meng Ziwei a Storage Ring and later refines cultivation medicines on Blue Star 29 31 33.
Politics and Society
Institutional Competition
- Governments, military organizations, wealthy families, and corporations treat cultivation talent as a strategic asset. Their backing supplies favored participants with information, superior wristwatches, and resources in both worlds 7 16 38.
- Access to spirit-beast meat creates a major advancement gap. Supported participants can concentrate on cultivation while others struggle to sustain progress across both worlds 38.
- The Extraordinary Bureau offers early reservist recruitment to people with promising starting positions. Meng Ziwei declines despite her Flower Sect affiliation, partly to avoid exposing Chu Zhou 29.
- Cultivation prospects reshape family alliances. The Meng family considers marrying Ziwei to Jiang Tianhao because of his talent, Dou Qi Continent connections, and his family’s military influence 28 29.
The Search for Chu Zhou
Chu Zhou’s repeated first-achievement rewards make him a global celebrity and a target of state investigations. Huaxia seeks to recruit him, including offering a deputy-director position in the Extraordinary Bureau and priority access to spirit-beast meat. Foreign governments initially suspect that his progress reflects secret Huaguo support, although Huaxia’s leaders know he has received none 7 16 21.
Recruitment efforts coexist with assassination plans. Dongye Tian asks his father to arrange Chu Zhou’s death after losing the alchemist-profession milestone to him, then renews the campaign after further defeats. By Chapter 38, foreign countries prioritize eliminating Chu Zhou as a future strategic threat, while Huaxia continues to favor recruitment 7 38.
Role in Chu Zhou’s Development
- Initial detachment — With no native family ties and a livelihood available on the Dou Qi Continent, Chu Zhou initially loses interest in Blue Star 12.
- Resource partnership — Spirit-beast meat changes his assessment. He appoints Meng Ziwei as his discreet representative, asking her to obtain meat and protect his identity 17.
- Private operating base — The riverside villa provides access to likely spirit-beast habitats, while entering the Dou Qi Continent offers a potential refuge during dangerous hunts 28.
- Practical alchemy — Chu Zhou refines Pulse-Protecting Pills on Blue Star to repair Meng Zichen’s damaged meridians, freeing Meng Ziwei from the Jiang family’s coercive offer of treatment 31 32.
- Complementary cultivation — He returns for meals and hunts spirit beasts for resources and combat experience, combining Blue Star’s meat supply with the Dou Qi Continent’s techniques and alchemy 31 32 35.
