Renewed bloodline growth 73 74 76 Progress stalls because Zhou’s lightning aura is too weak. His renewed heavenly-lightning tempering increases its potency, allowing her bloodlines to strengthen again.
Bloodline origin reaches its limit 92 93 Two months of daily Thunder Qi absorption bring her bloodline origin to saturation. Zhou’s breakthrough to Dou Wang strengthens the aura enough to provide an evolution catalyst.
Snake Spirit evolves into the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python 94 95 Endures Zhou’s released Thunder Qi, manifests her serpent true form, and completes ancestral evolution. A gigantic phantom swallows the heavenly thunder that strikes her.
Native Snake-People bloodline evolves; breakthrough to Dou Zong 95 96 97 Continued Thunder Qi produces a second, separate evolution and a healing celestial phenomenon. Her successful evolution allows her to reach Dou Zong naturally, with combat strength beyond an ordinary Dou Zong.

Background / History

At birth, Medusa underwent the Snake Spirit Secret Method, which implanted the soul of a Purple Nether Flame Snake into her body. As she cultivated, the two became inseparable. Its fire attribute replaced her native affinity, but her original Snake-People bloodline remained cold and yin-aspected 69.

Before meeting Zhou Changqing, she obtained a Heavenly Flame at the cost of serious injuries. She intended to recover and then use the tribe’s dangerous secret method to evolve her Snake Spirit and break through to Dou Zong. The incompatibility between the flame and her native bloodline made the procedure potentially fatal, a risk she accepted for her people’s future 69.

Her longer-term objective is to lead the Snake-People out of the desert. Several neighboring empires—not only the Jia Ma Empire—had participated in driving them there. Even after reaching Dou Zong, she judges that she needs mid-rank or high-rank Dou Zong strength to confront those countries confidently 97.

Appearance

Medusa has an almost flawless face, long black hair, and a bearing described as cold, noble, and commanding 65.

  • Original Snake-People form: Human upper body and a purple serpentine tail 65.
  • Royal attire: Golden crown, red-and-gold bandeau, red robes, and golden armor accents on her shoulders, arms, and wrists 65.
  • Evolved Snake Spirit form: A white serpent shining with seven colors, purple-tinged pupils, and a fragrant scent; it can shrink from an enormous serpent to roughly three feet long 95.
  • Human form after evolution: Possesses legs. During her visit to the Xiao Clan, she wears a translucent red veil, a gold-trimmed red qipao with black lining, and golden hair ornaments 96 99 102.

Personality

Medusa is imperious and intolerant of defiance. Her request to see Zhou’s weapon refining is effectively an order, and she initially insists that she will obtain his lightning Dou Qi regardless of his resistance. Nevertheless, she recognizes that coercing a stubborn, exceptionally talented person could destroy the very opportunity she needs, so she negotiates instead 68 69 70 71.

Her ruthlessness is tempered by responsibility toward her people. She punishes intruders to defend the tribe’s standing, but releases Gu He’s party when a desperate final battle could endanger her subjects and Zhou. She also rejects Yue Mei’s proposed marriage alliance, refusing to exchange Snake-People women’s happiness for political advantage 83 87 97.

Around Zhou, her reserve gradually gives way to teasing and quiet care. She admires his willingness to endure pain, carries him gently after he collapses, and protects his enlightenment without disturbing him. She recognizes his attraction and charm but has long subordinated personal desires to cultivation and the tribe’s interests 73 75 77 92 97.

Abilities & Skills

Fire-Attribute Dou Qi

  • Her fire affinity comes from her Purple Nether Flame Snake Spirit, rather than her native Snake-People bloodline 69.
  • Forms a scarlet, thornlike energy sword capable of breaking Yun Yun’s defensive barrier almost immediately 83.
  • Projects crimson attacks and a concentrated fingertip beam; the latter destroys Feng Li’s left arm 83 86.

Energy Serpents

  • Manifests enormous serpents for both offense and protection 84 86.
  • A serpent’s tail knocks Gu He and Yan Shi aside when they attempt to obstruct her 84.
  • Creates a hundred-meter red energy serpent around herself and Zhou, then uses its tail to shatter Feng Li’s massed wind blades 86.

Heavenly-Lightning Redirection

  • Uses her Peak Dou Emperor power to seize and redirect existing heavenly lightning onto Zhou’s lightning rod 76 77.
  • Supplies successive bolts for nearly eight hours, greatly increasing his body-tempering efficiency 77.
  • Limit: Cannot summon lightning herself. The desert’s lack of rain forces them to seek a storm-rich region near Water-Storage City 74.

Dual Bloodline Evolution

  • Snake Spirit lineage: Her Purple Nether Flame Snake carries a trace of Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python ancestry, enabling its ancestral evolution 96.
  • Native lineage: Her Snake-People bloodline is distinct from the Snake Spirit and remains a Snake-People bloodline after evolving 69 96.
  • Zhou’s Thunder Qi can purify and elevate both lineages; the Heavenly Flame method can awaken only the Snake Spirit’s ancestral bloodline 96.
  • Her two evolved bloodlines enhance her talent and give her combat strength beyond an ordinary Dou Zong 97 118.
  • Unrevealed ability: The evolved native bloodline grants a special ability but no inherited knowledge. Medusa declines to explain the ability yet 96.

Evolution Phenomena

  • During her Snake Spirit evolution, manifests a colossal phantom that swallows a descending bolt of Heavenly Thunder 95.
  • Her second evolution releases a gentle aura that produces feelings of warmth, closeness, and safety 95.
  • Celestial flowers and golden lotuses appear across the Holy City and surrounding area, healing injuries and illnesses and strengthening living creatures 95.

Perception and Flight

  • Detects the unusual aura in Zhou’s lightning Dou Qi when Yue Mei had failed to notice it 68 70.
  • Uses soul perception to investigate his refining cauldron and assess his techniques 68.
  • Travels at great speed with Dou Qi Wings, carrying Zhou across the desert in less than a day 74.
  • After becoming a Dou Zong, deliberately continues displaying Dou Qi Wings to conceal her breakthrough and appear to be a Dou Wang 99 124.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Storage Ring — Holds possessions including the two Dou Ling Pills she later gives Zhou 96.
  • Green Lotus Core Flame — formerly held — Obtained for her original evolution plan, then retained as insurance while testing Thunder Qi. She gives it to Zhou, who subsequently passes it to Xiao Yan 69 82 90 91.
  • Ice Spirit Cold Crystal lotus — formerly held — Contains the Green Lotus Core Flame; transferred with the flame to Zhou 90 94.
  • Ice spirit cold spring pool — Prepared at a secluded island for Heavenly Flame evolution. She retains it as an additional precaution for the Thunder Qi procedure and refuses Zhou’s request for it 94.
  • Pills taken from Gu He — Gives Zhou five fifth-grade Recovery Pills received as intrusion compensation, followed later by the two Dou Ling Pills paid to spare Feng Li and Yun Yun 83 86 96.

Relationships

  • Zhou Changqing — Initially a captive craftsman whom she evaluates for the tribe’s benefit; becomes her essential evolution partner, training companion, and protected friend. Their growing warmth and her suppressed attraction are documented, but no formal romantic relationship is established 65 71 77 86 97.
  • Yue Mei — One of her chiefs and the subordinate who reports Zhou’s talents. Medusa rejects Yue Mei’s proposal to marry him as a means of keeping him with the tribe 65 97.
  • Hua She’er — Captain of the Medusa Snake Guard. Follows her orders even when angered by Zhou and worries about Medusa traveling before her injuries have healed 64 71 74.
  • Yin Shi — Senior chief who watched Medusa grow up; organizes the chiefs’ defense while awaiting her return 80.

  • Gu He — Attempts to buy her Heavenly Flame, then pays valuable pills to secure his companions’ survival after she defeats them 82 83 86 87.
  • Yun Yun / Yun Zhi — Opponent accompanying Gu He. Repeatedly obstructs Medusa during the Holy City battle but cannot overcome her 83 84 85.
  • Feng Li — Targets Zhou as leverage; Medusa destroys his left arm and spares his life only after Gu He pays a Dou Ling Pill 83 86.
  • Xiao Yan — Receives her gifted Heavenly Flame through Zhou. Although privately displeased by the transfer, she respects Zhou’s choice and agrees to help if Yun Shan intervenes against him 91 124.
  • Amethyst Winged Lion King — Recognizes her identity and Dou Zong cultivation, submits immediately, and gives Zhou amethyst crystal as a gesture of respect toward her 99.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Discovering Zhou’s Value

  • Yue Mei reports Zhou’s cultivation talent and weapon-refining skill, prompting Medusa to summon him for evaluation 65 67.
  • Medusa recognizes weapon refining as a potentially new profession comparable in prestige to alchemy and considers cultivating Weapon Refiners within her tribe 68.
  • While examining his refining cauldron, she senses an instinctive bloodline hunger for his lightning Dou Qi. Absorbing several arcs reveals a possible alternative to Heavenly Flame evolution 68 69.

Negotiating Their Agreement

After a confrontational late-night discussion and mutual testing, Medusa and Zhou establish the following arrangement 70 71:

Obligation / Permission Terms
Tribal support The tribe supplies Zhou’s cultivation and weapon-refining materials 71.
Study and cultivation He may study tribal techniques freely, and his cultivation must not be restricted 71.
Weapon production He must refine at least one tier-three-or-higher Demonic Weapon each day 71.
Thunder Qi supply He hands over all his lightning-attribute Dou Qi daily 71.
Movement He may move freely within the Holy City, but does not receive unrestricted freedom to leave 71.
Termination Either side may end the agreement if the tribe can no longer meet its terms 71.
  • She initially conceals the bloodline purpose of the arrangement, preventing Zhou from gaining further leverage before her evolution is complete 73.
  • When the lightning aura becomes insufficient, they leave for the rainy mountains near Water-Storage City so Zhou can strengthen it through heavenly-lightning tempering 74.

Training Partnership

  • Their shared cave routine combines storm-time body tempering, bloodline cultivation, weapon refining, and meals together 76 77.
  • Medusa’s lightning redirection accelerates Zhou’s training, while his increasingly potent Thunder Qi advances her bloodlines 76 77.
  • She tests his strength and judges his body comparable to a Two-Star Dou Wang despite his Eight-Star Dou Ling cultivation 78.
  • Yue Mei’s warning that powerful outsiders have entered tribal territory brings their training trip to an abrupt end 78.

Defending the Holy City

  • Returns during the chiefs’ battle with Gu He’s party and immediately takes control of the confrontation 81.
  • Refuses an offer of two sixth-grade Dou Ling Pills and one seventh-grade Transformation Pill for the Heavenly Flame, retaining it as an evolution safeguard 82 90.
  • Defeats the intruders and intervenes when Feng Li’s strongest attack threatens Zhou 83 85 86.
  • Takes two Dou Ling Pills to spare Feng Li and Yun Yun. She ultimately releases the party rather than risk casualties among her people and Zhou 86 87.

Completing Both Evolutions

  • Gives Zhou the Green Lotus Core Flame before her evolution, explaining that its power could still serve as a fallback even after he refined it 89 90.
  • Guards him through his Dou Wang breakthrough and enlightenment, then recognizes his strengthened Thunder Qi as her long-awaited catalyst 92 93.
  • Returns to the Holy City, orders strict security, and undergoes successive Snake Spirit and native Snake-People bloodline evolutions 94 95 96.
  • Continues absorbing Thunder Qi afterward because both bloodlines can improve further; Zhou is no longer forbidden from leaving the tribe 96.

Traveling Through the Jia Ma Empire

  • Rejects Yue Mei’s marriage proposal and decides Zhou should leave before personal entanglements expose his Thunder Qi’s secret. She accompanies him under the stated purpose of investigating the Jia Ma Empire 97.
  • Travels through the Magical Beast Mountain Range, Wutan City, and Jia Ma Holy City while keeping her Dou Zong breakthrough concealed 98 99 103.
  • Devotes most of her time in the capital to cultivation and Thunder Qi absorption, approaching Two-Star Dou Zong 118.
  • Agrees to assist Zhou if Yun Shan intervenes during Xiao Yan’s Three-Year Agreement, then attends the duel beside him 124 125.
