After confirming their dormitory arrangements under Headmaster Li Wei's guidance, Qin Xu and Zhang Lexuan followed the lakeside path out onto the academy's main avenue, then headed to the teaching district.
The teaching district looked entirely different. Tall buildings and numerous training halls stood interspersed in an orderly arrangement of varying heights. Almost every teaching building had two or three training halls within easy reach, more than enough to meet the needs of its students.
The Young Heaven Class had a teaching building all to itself in one corner of the teaching district, away from the main cluster but close to the Living Area and not far from the Comprehensive Zone. Clearly, considerable thought had gone into choosing its location.
"Qin Xu, this is Teacher Tian Zilai, whom the academy has appointed as the Young Heaven Class's homeroom teacher." Li Wei called forward a middle-aged man in his forties from the group following them and introduced him to Qin Xu.
"Headmaster." Tian Zilai first nodded to Li Wei, then turned to Qin Xu and said, "Hello, Qin Xu!"
"Hello, Teacher Tian." Qin Xu smiled as he sized up the Young Heaven Class's homeroom teacher.
He had regular features and bright, alert eyes. Of average height and proportionate build, he looked meticulous and dependable. Well, if he had been appointed homeroom teacher of the Young Heaven Class, his abilities remained to be seen, but his temperament and character had to be excellent.
"Teacher Tian is forty-one this year and has reached Soul Emperor cultivation. Of all our teachers, he has the most extensive theoretical knowledge and the most solid teaching record," Li Wei explained.
A forty-one-year-old Soul Emperor could hardly be called exceptionally gifted, but his talent was by no means poor either. He still had a chance of becoming a Titled Douluo, however remote that possibility might be.
"Qin Xu, these are the Young Heaven Class's subject teachers." Li Wei gestured toward the others behind him. "Since every student in the Young Heaven Class is a carefully selected genius, the academy intends to adopt individualized instruction and specialized tutoring."
"In addition to teachers for the foundational courses, the academy has specifically assigned the Young Heaven Class one teacher each for the power attack system, Agility Attack System, Control System, Defense System, and Support System. There is also a teacher from the Soul Tool Department to develop the students' awareness of Soul Tools."
Qin Xu nodded thoughtfully. Before today, he had known very little about the Young Heaven Class, much less Heavenly Profound Academy's teaching plans for it. But from what Li Wei had just said, he could tell that the academy's leadership was truly ambitious. They wanted to turn the Young Heaven Class into the academy's signature program.
After they left the teaching district, only Qin Xu, Zhang Lexuan, Li Wei, and a few attendants remained in the group.
"Headmaster, Sister Lexuan and I would like to look around the academy next, so there's no need to keep attending to us," Qin Xu told Li Wei. "With the school year just starting, there must be plenty of matters waiting for your attention. Please go ahead and take care of them."
Li Wei nodded at that. "Very well. This old man won't disturb you any longer. If you have any new ideas, Qin Xu, just send someone to find me in the headmaster's office. I'll be stationed there throughout these first few days of term."
"Certainly," Qin Xu said.
Li Wei left with his attendants, leaving Qin Xu and Zhang Lexuan alone.
"Whew! Finally, nobody else around." Qin Xu let out a breath, lazily wrapped his arms around Zhang Lexuan, and leaned his whole weight against her. "Having a whole crowd following behind us really makes me uncomfortable."
"Hehe, little Xu, you are the ruler of a nation, after all. You'll have to learn to get used to it!" Zhang Lexuan chuckled, gently stroking his face with her delicate hand as she comforted him.
"Ah, leave all that until I'm grown up. Right now, I just want to be a child in peace," Qin Xu said. "Forget it, let's not talk about that. Sister Lexuan, let's go see our dormitory. We'll be spending tonight here."
"All right." Zhang Lexuan nodded gently and gave him a tender smile.
Qin Xu and Zhang Lexuan's dormitory was Number One. The two nearest dormitories were Number Two and Number Three.
The villa had three floors. The first contained a living room, dining room, kitchen, storage room, and a large bathroom with a bathing pool. The second had two bedrooms, a shower room, and a multipurpose room. The third also had two bedrooms and a shower room, along with a large terrace.
All four bedrooms were master suites, each with its own bathroom, balcony, and cultivation room. These private cultivation rooms were the clearest distinction between the detached villas and the other two types of dormitory.
Every bedroom's cultivation room had been painstakingly remodeled. Not only did it have a soundproofing array to shield its user from outside disturbances, but it also had a Spirit Gathering Array, a Heart-Calming Array, and a Dust-Removing Array to bring the user into the best possible state of Meditation. They could enter secluded cultivation at any time without competing with other students for the academy's communal cultivation rooms.
It was worth mentioning that Villa Number One's facilities were a grade above those of the other twenty-nine villas. It had been prepared specifically for Qin Xu. No student had lived there since its construction; Qin Xu and Zhang Lexuan were its first residents, and might also be its last.
Qin Xu and Zhang Lexuan chose the two bedrooms on the second floor. Palace servants had already arranged all their belongings, so they did not need to lift a finger.
The bedroom was simply furnished, with only a large bed, a desk, a chair, and a wardrobe. The wardrobe held four sets of Heavenly Profound Academy uniforms and Qin Xu's personal belongings. There was nothing else.
"Little Xu, would you like me to cook dinner, or would you rather go to the academy's cafeteria?" Zhang Lexuan came over and asked.
Zhang Lexuan knew how to cook, and her skills were excellent, in no way inferior to those of the palace's imperial kitchen chefs.
"Sister Lexuan, let's eat at the cafeteria tonight. We can check how well the academy feeds its students and whether anyone has been embezzling their meal funds." Qin Xu smiled, making a joke that could have scared the Academy Cafeteria's director to death.
"Mm, all right. Whatever you say." Zhang Lexuan smiled sweetly.
"Little brother Qin Xu, are you there? I've come to play!" Just then, a little girl's clear, bright voice rang out from outside, followed by the doorbell.
Qin Xu and Zhang Lexuan knew who it was, so they went to open the door.
"Wei'er, when did you arrive?" Qin Xu asked as he invited their visitor inside.
"Call me Sister Wei'er!" Vielvi solemnly corrected his form of address, then grinned. "Hehe, I knew you were living in this one. We just arrived. Granny Ya is directing the maids as they tidy up the rooms. We're right in front of you, in Villa Number Two!"
The corner of Qin Xu's mouth twitched, and he chose to ignore Vielvi's correction.
At first, Qin Xu had indeed called Vielvi his older sister. But as they spent more time together, he discovered that she was innocent and childish—a genuine little kid—and stopped calling her that. His body was six years old, but his mind certainly wasn't. He really could not bring himself to call a little girl his older sister.
Not every girl was Zhang Lexuan, whose innate maternal radiance allowed Qin Xu to call her his older sister without the slightest qualm.
"Villa Number Two? That's very close to us. How convenient for little Xu and Wei'er to go to and from class together." Zhang Lexuan came over with a smile.
"Hehehe, hello, Sister Lexuan!" At the sight of Zhang Lexuan, Vielvi immediately sidled up to her obediently, hugged her arm, and greeted her in a sweet voice. This little girl was a sucker for good looks; Qin Xu had discovered that on the second day after meeting her.
"Wei'er, we're just preparing to go to the Academy Cafeteria for dinner. Would you like to come?" Qin Xu asked.
"Yes, yes!" Vielvi clapped her hands and agreed delightedly.
