Background / History

Heaven Dou Rebellion

Qin Tianji formerly held the title of Black Dragon Duke. Beginning with his generation, the Qin family’s main line produced only one son per generation, making the survival of each heir especially important 1 2.

The Heaven Dou Rebellion in New Calendar Year 4441 killed his only son and only grandson—Qin Xu’s grandfather and father—as well as Qin Xu’s mother. Qin Tianji stormed Heaven Dou City after learning of their deaths. Seeing that his great-grandson had survived prevented him from pursuing a mutually destructive confrontation with the imperial family 1.

He entered the capital with his sworn brothers Wei Zhiyi and Bai Jian, confronting Zhao Yong and elders of the Body Sect. All three were prepared to die. Meanwhile, Qin Tiansui and Qin Feng massed troops at the border, ready to lead the family and its army into the Sun Moon Empire if ordered 2.

The new emperor subsequently elevated Qin Xu to Black Dragon Grand Duke and converted Xihe Province into the Black Dragon Duchy to repair relations. Qin Tianji remained a central authority within the duchy, overseeing his great-grandson’s upbringing 1 10.

Protecting the Successor

Qin Tianji chose Zhang Lexuan, a daughter of the Qin family’s Radiant Moon Earl vassals, as Qin Xu’s fiancée. He also arranged a private martial soul awakening in the Offering Hall rather than exposing the boy’s awakening at the public conference 1.

When Qin Xu awakened a royal true dragon with ultimate darkness, Qin Tianji ordered officials to announce it as the family’s ordinary Dark Demon King Dragon martial soul.
