Background / History

Gu Yuena’s Divided Identity

Before becoming Gu Yue, Gu Yuena lived with Tang Wulin and his adoptive parents as Na’er for three and a half years. Their affection weakened her hostility toward humanity and created a conflict between family attachment and her duty to the soul beasts. She eventually departed with Di Tian and Bi Ji, although she remained deeply reluctant to leave 19 20.

Chapter 32 explains, through Tang Wulin’s recollection of the original story, that Gu Yuena divided herself to separate these conflicting loyalties. Gu Yue retained reason and the soul beasts’ mission, while Na’er received the tender human emotions and thirty percent of their origin power. Na’er became independent of Gu Yue’s control and wished to return to the Tang family 32.

Gu Yue made a wager with Na’er: if she could make Tang Wulin deeply dependent on her, Na’er would willingly merge back into the primary personality. She arranged for Na’er to study under Yun Ming at Shrek Academy, drawing on the Golden Ancient Tree’s resources, while she entered Eastsea Academy as an ordinary student 32.

Hidden Objectives

Gu Yuena had previously reached only half-step God King. Gu Yue’s cultivation as a human Soul Master is intended to overcome that barrier; reunion with Na’er’s origin power forms part of the plan. Her original power is voluntarily sealed rather than openly displayed 32 43.

Her ambitions include opposing the Divine Realm, reviving the Dragon Clan, and taking command of the Spirit Pagoda to influence the continent’s balance of power. Attaining complete God King strength could also allow her to lead surviving soul beasts to a sanctuary beyond the Divine Realm’s reach 32 44.

Appearance

  • Hair and eyes: Black hair and dark eyes in her Gu Yue identity 32 43.
  • Everyday impression: Initially described as plain and easily overlooked in a crowd 32.
  • During her visit to Tang Wulin: Wears an exquisite Lolita-style dress; her features are described as delicate and well-proportioned 43.

Personality

Gu Yue is usually cold, reserved, and distant toward others, but becomes playful and gentle around Tang Wulin. She stays close to him almost immediately after enrollment and feels frustrated when he avoids her. With his parents, she is composed, gracious, and sincerely complimentary about his diligence 32 43 44.

She is proud and competitive. During Class Zero’s assessments, she apparently chooses a spiritual-power reading just one point higher than Tang Wulin’s, then directs a challenging look at him during the strength test 54.

Her growing affection does not erase her strategic thinking. After discovering Tang Wulin’s forging rank, she considers how his possible future as a God Craftsman could strengthen her political position. Likewise, she approaches human technological education as preparation to protect the soul beasts and potentially oppose humanity 44 51.

Abilities & Skills

Elemental Envoy

Her martial soul permits control of six elements and free switching between elemental forms. Wu Changkong judges her control to have already reached mastery for her cultivation level 32.

Demonstrated Element Applications
Wind Enhances flames, enables elusive movement, and creates restraints that restrict an opponent’s evasive routes 32 33 46.
Fire Produces fireballs and explosive attacks for heavy offense, including aerial bombardment 33 34 46.
Earth Restricts Tang Wulin’s movement during her entrance assessment 32.
Light Dissolves Zhang Yangzi’s dark mist and defeats him in the tournament final 46.
Ice Supports the team’s attack against the Crystal Bear 57.
  • Elemental combinations: Uses wind, fire, and earth together to decisively defeat Tang Wulin during her entrance assessment 32.
  • Mobility and penetration: Rides the wind to evade Blue Silver Grass; explosive elemental force can pass through the vines and injure Tang Wulin even when the grass itself resists fire 33.
  • Cultivation limitation: Her soul rings cannot be assigned to individual elements, making it difficult to strengthen one element independently 32.
  • Training priority: Wu Changkong directs her to develop layered combinations rather than treat each element separately 32.

Elemental Tide

Her first soul skill improves the endurance and strength of her elemental manipulation 32.

  • Extends how long her soul power lasts 32.
  • Slightly strengthens her elements 32.
  • Accompanies a yellow, hundred-year first soul ring 34.

Spiritual Power and Perception

Gu Yue’s measured spiritual power rises from 130 to 146, both within the Spirit Connection Realm 33 54.

  • Secretly probes Tang Wulin’s soul power and identifies that he has reached level 17, then claims she guessed 43.
  • Detects the hidden golden force in his tournament attack and senses an unexplained familiarity with it 45.
  • Recognizes the connection between his revealed Golden Dragon power and the Golden Dragon King, although she cannot explain how he possesses it 54.

Physical and Combat Ability

  • Defeats Tang Wulin and Xie Xie together during practice; neither can reliably close the distance against her 33.
  • Records punches of 115 kg and 143 kg during strength testing 54.
  • Places second to Tang Wulin in reaction speed and performs nearly evenly with him in the remaining assessments 54.
  • Remains vulnerable to stronger opponents: Wu Changkong defeats the coordinated trio, and a Crystal Bear forces her to flee before her teammates assist 33 57.

Relationships

  • Tang Wulin — Classmate, teammate, and the focus of her wager with Na’er. Their closeness develops into genuine warmth alongside her strategic interest in his future. He promises to forge her Four-Word Battle Armor, but privately refuses to support a path that destroys humanity. They are not confirmed as a romantic couple in the supplied chapters 32 43 44.
  • Na’er — Gu Yuena’s secondary personality, holding their human affection and thirty percent of their origin power. Her independence forces Gu Yue to negotiate reunion through their wager 32.
  • Wu Changkong — Homeroom teacher and combat instructor. Secures her late admission, recognizes her elemental mastery, and guides her toward combined-element techniques 32.
  • Xie Xie — Friend and agility-attack teammate. Shares intensive training, the confrontation with Guang Long, and the tournament victory with her 33 34 46.
  • Tang Ziran and Lang Yue — Gu Yuena’s adoptive parents during her life as Na’er. Later welcome Gu Yue warmly as Tang Wulin’s classmate and tease the pair about their closeness 19 20 43.
