Ch. 1Rebirth
Chapter Summary: “Rebirth”
Key plot points and events
- In the Far North Wasteland, Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena lie dying together, pierced by the Golden Dragon Spear. They reaffirm their love and regret the choices that kept them apart. Gu Yuena admits she tried to protect him by carrying every burden alone; Tang Wulin says he would rather die beside her than live without her. They hope that in another life they can be ordinary people together.
- Gu Yuena awakens in the Star Dou Great Forest, back before their tragedies began. She realizes she has been reborn with her memories intact and with her power restored and vastly increased. Determined to change their fate, she vows that her choices will be her own.
- Gu Yuena uses Soul Division to create Na’er as an independent avatar. Na’er will travel to the Human Territories, find Tang Wulin, tell him the truth, and protect him. Gu Yuena will remain in the forest to unite and strengthen the Soul Beast Clan.
- Gu Yuena warns Na’er not to trust Tang San, believing he places the greater good above family and may treat Tang Wulin as a pawn. She then orders Di Tian to summon the Ferocious Beasts and prepare the Soul Beasts for coming conflicts.
- The chapter also reveals Tang Wulin’s birth in the Divine Realm. After the dying Golden Dragon King sends his violent origin power into the infant, the gods fear it will destroy or possess him. Huo Yuhao proposes sending him to the mortal world after sealing the power. Tang Wutong volunteers to accompany and protect her brother.
- The Goddess of Life and God of Destruction contribute opposing powers to stabilize the child. Tang San applies the Eighteen Fate Seals, suppressing the Golden Dragon King’s power and obsession. Tang Wutong then carries Tang Wulin through a Spacetime Gate to the Douluo Continent.
Character developments and interactions
- Gu Yuena shifts from a self-sacrificing strategist who kept Tang Wulin at a distance to a determined leader who intends to share the truth, protect him directly, and build strength for her people.
- Tang Wulin remains unwavering in his devotion, choosing shared death over a life without Gu Yuena.
- Na’er, created from Gu Yuena’s soul and memories, accepts the task of finding and guarding Tang Wulin.
