Shi Mei appeared before Sasuke, Naruto, and the Ten Celestial Ninja, explained why he had spared Sasuke in a previous life, and revealed the immense number of Chakra Fruits he had consumed. He attacked with Divine Technique: Heavenly Tribulation, and Sasuke used Divine Technique: Omotaru to leap back to before the storm began.
Sasuke repeatedly used Omotaru to reset time while everyone adapted to Shi Mei’s Heavenly Tribulation, enduring tens of thousands of deaths until they overcame its phenomena. Shi Mei then used Omnipotence to seize everyone’s hearts, and Sasuke attempted to take their accumulated mental fatigue and harm onto himself with Transference.
Sasuke’s allies prepared to exploit the Great Divine Techniques that Shi Mei’s Ten Directions could not predict, but Shi Mei killed Sasuke before he could use Omotaru. The chapter ended with Naruto charging Shi Mei as Heart Takeover struck the others again.
Shi Mei’s Ten Directions foresaw the heroes’ plans, but Sasuke, Naruto, and Obito unleashed their Great Divine Techniques and attacked while time was frozen. Just before Ashubha ended, Obito glimpsed branching futures and warned that Shi Mei had Void Māra and was adapting to all their abilities.
Sasuke used Obito’s Ten Directions to discover that Shi Mei’s foresight briefly lagged whenever a Great Divine Technique activated. He exploited that opening to start a rapid cycle of reviving and killing Hinata, leaving Shi Mei’s Ten Directions overwhelmed.
Sasuke and the Celestial Ninja launched a desperate assault on Shi Mei, exploiting Ten Directions’ disruption at the cost of many lives. Shi Mei revealed he could end the disruption himself and began using Yasohorotsuhi to impose absolute death, targeting Kabuto first.
Shi Mei killed Kabuto permanently, and Sasuke discovered that Yasohorotsuhi required Shi Mei to grab his target and erased the victim beyond resurrection. The battle continued as Sarada sacrificed herself to stop Shi Mei, but he extinguished her attack and prepared to unleash Daikokuten on a collapsing sun.
Shi Mei revealed that he had engineered Sasuke’s suffering and the shinobi world’s history to create a worthy opponent and achieve transcendence, then attacked everyone with the sun. As Sasuke lost hope, Shinfū stood beside him and declared that his wind would not stop, before Sasuke sensed Orochimaru.
Shinfū revealed the hidden technique Samadhi, and Sasuke began using it to reach his theoretical pinnacle while the others sacrificed themselves to hold Shi Mei back. As the world faced annihilation, Sasuke accepted that activating Samadhi would make everyone forget him, and its light overwhelmed Shi Mei with despair.
Sasuke annihilated Shi Mei, then used the last of his divine power to become the sun and give the Shinobi World eternal light. Years later, Obito honored the fallen ninja and glimpsed Sasuke and the others watching over the world.
