Before long, Qingyun had replenished his Internal Force. When he opened his eyes, he found Tsunade staring blankly at him. Her gaze made him a little uncomfortable. "Teacher, is there something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Qingyun's voice snapped Tsunade out of her daze. She gave a dry cough to hide her embarrassment. "Nothing. I was just thinking about something. Have you replenished your chakra? Then let's move on to the next step!"
As she spoke, she handed Qingyun a half-dead fish she had prepared earlier, then explained, "Now, draw on your chakra, blend it together, and gather it in your hands. Keep it from dispersing, then try to revive this fish. Remember, don't rush. Take it little by little. Be patient."
Following Tsunade's instructions, Qingyun drew on his physical energy and blended it into his Internal Force, then gradually gathered it in his hands.
After his tree-climbing and Water Walking training, Qingyun's control over his Internal Force had improved considerably. Gathering it in his hands and keeping it from dispersing came easily to him.
Before long, once the Internal Force in his hands had stabilized, Qingyun slowly brought them toward the fish and fed his Internal Force into its body.
At first, Qingyun could not gauge the right amount of Internal Force. He either fed in too much and killed the fish with the shock, or too little and missed the best window for treatment.
Before long, more than a dozen fish had died at Qingyun's hands.
Qingyun wiped away his sweat. Rather than continue treating the fish, he considered why he still could not heal them when his control over his Internal Force was already so precise.
He closed his eyes, replaying the scenes of himself treating the fish in his mind.
A gentle breeze stirred Qingyun's hair, lifting it slightly. After an unknown stretch of time, Qingyun opened his eyes and swiftly gathered Internal Force in his hands. Then he picked up a fish that had only recently died and slowly pressed his hand against its body.
As Qingyun's Internal Force gradually entered its body, the fish opened its lifeless eyes and began flopping on the ground.
"It worked."
Qingyun watched the lively fish with delight.
Earlier, Qingyun had been unable to settle his mind. Whenever he fed in his Internal Force, he kept worrying about the amount. In the end, he either used too much and killed the fish with the shock, or too little and missed the best window for treatment.
But after taking a long while to calm down and clear his mind, Qingyun stopped thinking about how much Internal Force to feed in. All he needed to do was revive the fish. Sure enough, in that state, he successfully healed his first fish.
Tsunade looked at the fish flopping on the ground, then at Qingyun's delighted face. Shock surged through her. Qingyun really was a ninja with every chakra nature.
Not only did he possess all five ordinary natures, he even had Yin Release and Yang Release. Tsunade felt as though she were witnessing the birth of a genius ninja like her grandfather.
"Don't get carried away. That was only your first fish. However many you killed earlier, that's how many you have to revive."
Seeing how delighted Qingyun was, Tsunade could not resist taking him down a peg.
Qingyun grinned at her words and nodded. He grabbed another half-dead fish, killed it with practiced ease, then gathered his Internal Force and began treating it.
Soon, Qingyun was reviving fish one after another and tossing them into the water.
When Qingyun reached for another fish, he discovered there were none left. He rose to his feet, stretched, and looked at Tsunade. "Teacher, can I officially start learning Medical Ninjutsu from you now?"
Tsunade tapped Qingyun on the head and said irritably, "You can, but haven't you noticed what time it is?"
Qingyun froze, then saw that the sun was about to set. It was clearly getting late. Scratching his head, he leaped into the water and caught several fish. "Thank you for teaching me. Let me make you a fish feast today!"
Tsunade had wondered why Qingyun had suddenly jumped into the water. Only now did she understand. Looking at Qingyun, she thought of her own brat of a younger brother.
He was older than Qingyun, yet not even half as thoughtful. Though she kept grumbling inwardly, she smiled and nodded, indicating that she would be waiting for Qingyun's fish feast.
Seeing Tsunade nod, Qingyun grinned and carried the fish back to his lodgings. He began preparing fish with pickled mustard greens, braised fish, steamed fish, and other dishes.
Soon, ten different dishes were ready, every one of them made with fish as the main ingredient.
The sight and aroma of the ten delicious-looking dishes whetted Tsunade's appetite. Her chopsticks flew, and before long, her cheeks were bulging with food.
Fortunately, Qingyun had used his Internal Force to shatter all the fish bones into powder. Otherwise, eating fish the way Tsunade did would surely have left a bone stuck in her throat.
Qingyun ate at a leisurely pace, glancing out of the corner of his eye at the bottle of liquor beside Tsunade. He swallowed.
In his previous life, Qingyun had loved drinking. Every so often, he would invite a few friends out for a meal and drinks.
He had not had a single drink since coming to this world!
Tsunade followed Qingyun's gaze to the bottle and paused. Then she swallowed her food and smacked him on the head in exasperation. "Already picking up bad habits at your age? Don't tell me you want to drink?"
Qingyun scratched his head sheepishly and offered an excuse. "I'm just curious. Teacher, can I have a sip?"
Tsunade was about to refuse, but then something occurred to her. She looked at Qingyun with a smile and nodded.
Seeing her nod, Qingyun picked up the bottle with a nostalgic expression and took a swig. He smacked his lips. Japanese sake tasted so mild that it hardly seemed like liquor at all, more like an ordinary beverage.
Before long, Qingyun had finished the whole bottle.
Tsunade stared at Qingyun, dumbfounded. Since he acted so mature, she had wanted to get him drunk and see him make a fool of himself. Instead, he had drained an entire bottle without his expression changing, and even looked as though he disliked the taste.
"Wait, you... is this your first time drinking?"
Tsunade stammered.
Qingyun nodded. "Yes. I don't get much in survivor benefits, and no one in the clan would offer me liquor. This is my first time drinking."
He added silently, My first time drinking in this world.
"Don't you feel anything at all?"
Tsunade knew Qingyun was telling the truth, but that was precisely why she was so surprised. The little brat before her could actually hold his liquor remarkably well. Appearances really could be deceiving.
Qingyun pursed his lips and said casually, "No. It feels pretty much like any other drink. How does this even count as liquor?"
Qingyun's nonchalant expression made Tsunade grit her teeth. Unable to help herself, she challenged him to a drinking contest.
Qingyun accepted everything she offered, matching her bottle for bottle. In the end, Qingyun was perfectly fine, while Tsunade was rather tipsy.
She left unsteadily and headed home, looking as though she were questioning everything she knew about life.
Qingyun could only watch helplessly as Tsunade insisted on going home by herself. After cleaning up the wreckage on the table, he closed his eyes and began practicing the Primordial Chaos Technique.
It was not until late that night, when an exhausted Minato Namikaze returned to their lodgings, that Qingyun opened his eyes.
"Big brother, you're training again!"
Minato Namikaze looked at Qingyun wearily.
"Yes. Why do you look like that? Is training with Master Jiraiya that exhausting?"
Qingyun looked at Minato Namikaze in puzzlement.
Minato Namikaze hesitated. He opened his mouth, but did not know where to begin.
Qingyun paused at his reaction, then seemed to remember something. With a peculiar expression, he looked at Minato Namikaze and said, "I heard Master Jiraiya likes peeping on girls while they bathe. Don't tell me he took you along?"
Minato Namikaze's face flushed red. Clearly, Qingyun had guessed correctly.
Seeing that Qingyun had figured it out, Minato Namikaze fled to his room.
Watching Minato Namikaze retreat, Qingyun gave an odd smile. He shook his head and thought, That Jiraiya really is incorrigible.
