Arc 9The Uchiha Split and Danzo’s Fall

Yan Uchiha orchestrated a staged Uchiha schism that eliminated Setsuna and secured resources for Shisui’s branch, while Hiruzen Sarutobi was drawn into supporting the plan. Danzo’s attempt to abduct Rin brought Minato into open conflict with Konoha’s leadership, and the arc ended with Shikaku uncovering the Uchiha’s manipulation as Hiruzen planned for the postwar struggle.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi forced Danzo to abandon his pursuit of the Three-Tails and secured the elders’ agreement to sign a peace treaty with Iwagakure.
  • Shisui gathered dissatisfied Uchiha under his banner, while Jin Uchiha and Tekka prepared a staged confrontation that would remove Setsuna and pressure Hiruzen for support.
  • Yan Uchiha and Shisui clashed with Susanoo as Fugaku and Tekka defeated their opponents, and Tekka permanently killed Setsuna after he exhausted Izanagi.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi arrived at the Uchiha compound and, after Yan expelled Shisui’s faction, gave Shisui’s branch shelter and two hundred million in start-up funds.
  • Danzo’s Root forces abducted Rin, but Kushina, Obito, Kakashi, and Minato fought them off, forcing Danzo to abandon the attempt.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi stripped Danzo of his elder authority and Root leadership, while Minato refused to let Hiruzen transfer Obito and Kakashi into ANBU.
  • Minato warned Kushina, Rin, Obito, and Kakashi about Konoha’s political schemes and began preparing to change the village, while Hiruzen settled the Uchiha near the Forest of Death.
  • Shikaku Nara exposed how Yan and Shisui had manipulated Hiruzen into supporting the Uchiha, and Hiruzen chose to endure the loss until after the war.

Arc 10The Yagura Investigation

As the Uchiha gained allies and challenged Hiruzen Sarutobi’s authority, Jin Uchiha led Konoha’s response to Kirigakure’s accusation that the Uchiha had controlled Yagura. The investigation exposed Danzo’s attempts to manipulate Mei Terumi and steal evidence, while Hiruzen gave Jin authority to continue but warned him not to move against Danzo without proof.

  • Shikaku Nara and Koji Nara arranged for the Nara, Akimichi, and Yamanaka clans to split their support between Hiruzen Sarutobi and the Uchiha.
  • Danzo, Utatane Koharu, Mitokado Homura, and Arashi Sarutobi conspired against Hiruzen, and Danzo killed Shinnosuke Sarutobi before Hiruzen uncovered the plot and killed Arashi.
  • Hiruzen blamed Kumogakure for Shinnosuke’s death, appointed Inoichi Yamanaka and Shisui Uchiha to ANBU leadership, and called for a Five Kage Summit despite Yan Uchiha’s opposition.
  • Yan Uchiha rallied support for the Uchiha, while Jin Uchiha told Aya Hyuga and Kazama Nara that he wanted to reshape Konoha’s balance of power.
  • After Kirigakure accused the Uchiha of controlling Yagura, Jin arranged a joint investigation with Mei Terumi and argued that Madara Uchiha, not Konoha’s Uchiha, was responsible.
  • Danzo tried to sway Mei with a forged scroll implicating Jin, but Jin, Shisui, and Itachi exposed the forgery, and Mei agreed to a joint investigation with Konoha.
  • Jin sent Itachi to investigate Akatsuki activity near Amegakure, while Fugaku shared Madara’s notes on Kotoamatsukami and Infinite Tsukuyomi with him.
  • Jin caught a Root operative after someone stole pages from Yagura’s psychological assessment, then shared Uchiha records with Hiruzen, who gave Jin authority over the investigation but barred action against Danzo without conclusive evidence.
