Yan Uchiha narrowed his eyes. His expression barely changed, but his mind had already raced through several possibilities.
He genuinely could not understand why Hiruzen Sarutobi had suddenly summoned every Jonin for a meeting. Still, there were only so many possible reasons.
Either something had gone wrong on the front lines, or this meeting was aimed at the Uchiha.
For now, Yan could not think of a third explanation.
He might usually look lazy, but when something happened, his mind was anything but slow. The Uchiha had not gotten this far because someone had generously handed them a grand building. They had fought again and again, wresting a place for themselves from other people's hands.
There was only so much to go around in Konoha. If the Uchiha wanted a larger share, the others certainly would not hand it over with a smile.
As for the Will of Fire, Yan considered it nothing more than pretty words meant to fool people. Whether in Konoha or the entire Shinobi World, the underlying rule remained the same: the strong survived, and the weak were weeded out.
So when Hiruzen Sarutobi suddenly summoned everyone, he instinctively sensed something was wrong.
"Jin, have you noticed something?"
Shibi Aburame, seated to his right, lowered his voice and asked, "Should we send someone back first and have the clan make preparations?"
Shibi was certainly no fool. His mind might not compare to those of the Nara Clan, but he could still form his own judgment on something this basic.
At the very least, he was much better at it than Fugaku.
Fugaku had been basking in the joy of the Uchiha's rise while secretly mocking the Hyuga Clan. At those words, the smile on his face immediately froze.
He shuddered, losing all desire to show off,
