As Sasuke reached his front door and was about to open it, he seemed to sense something and glanced toward Naruto's room.
"Still asleep? This is the first time he hasn't gotten up this late... There's someone else in there, too, and it's not Hinata... Something's wrong. Did something happen?"
Sasuke frowned. The departure from their usual routine felt wrong, prompting him to head toward Naruto's room.
"The shinobi world, faced with an enemy no Ninja could possibly fight?"
In Naruto's inner world, Kakashi murmured as he considered Minato's question.
He knew Minato-sensei would not ask this without a reason, so he could only try to follow that line of thought in his answer.
"Ever since the shinobi villages were founded, wars have been frequent between the Great Nations and the smaller nations... I've spent a lot of these past years on missions outside the village, too. Even if some unprecedented enemy really appeared, I think the shinobi world would keep fighting separately until it had paid a sufficiently devastating price."
"Every major shinobi village has its own reserves of strength, but after these several Shinobi World Wars, they've more or less come to understand the other villages' overall fighting capabilities."
"If an enemy so powerful that no one could stop him really existed, I suspect he would have to cause enough destruction and upheaval, perhaps even destroy one of the Five Great Shinobi Villages... Only then would the shinobi world realize that losing one would endanger them all and unite against the enemy."
After thinking for a while, Kakashi gave what he believed was the most accurate answer.
Above all, he truly could not imagine an enemy capable of threatening the entire shinobi world single-handedly, not even the legendary Madara Uchiha.
Not without seeing it with his own eyes.
