After the barrier blocked his attack, the Raikage immediately retreated. Only then did he get a clear look at what had stopped him.
The upper body of a dark blue giant surrounded Madara, completely enclosing him, Hayato, and the others. The giant held what looked like two longswords, and the Raikage's fist had struck its body.
This giant was Madara Uchiha's Susanoo.
Since Madara had dared to bring Hayato and the others along, he could naturally keep them safe.
"You attacked my subordinate, so I won't hold back either."
Standing inside Susanoo, Madara looked at the Raikage with a faint smile. Then Susanoo's sword-wielding hand slashed downward.

The evacuation of Kumogakure was not yet complete. Susanoo's defenses had already shown the Raikage that his opponent was no ordinary foe, and he dared not gamble on how powerful the monster's attacks were.
