After rescuing Gaara and defeating Sasori, Deidara, Hidan, and Kakuzu, Madara exposed the daimyo’s hidden Bounty Exchange Office and secured Konoha’s position. He then set out with Jiraiya to confront Pain, while Naruto began training to control the Nine-Tails.

• Sasuke defeated Sasori’s Third Kazekage puppet and destroyed his remaining puppets with Kirin, while Naruto chased Deidara and forced him to detonate himself before escaping with Kakashi.
• Granny Chiyo used her life force to revive Gaara, then died in Sasuke’s arms as Sunagakure celebrated Gaara’s return.
• Madara sent Sasuke, Naruto, and Asuma after Hidan and Kakuzu, and Naruto killed both Akatsuki members while Sasuke recovered Chiriku’s body.
• Ibiki revealed that the daimyo of the Five Great Nations had secretly founded the Bounty Exchange Office, and Madara spread the truth to weaken their influence over the shinobi villages.
• The Land of Fire’s Daimyo compensated Konoha, disbanded the Twelve Guardian Ninja, and Madara appointed Kazuhiko captain of the Hokage Office’s Guard Unit.
• Madara assigned Naruto to master the Nine-Tails, while he and Jiraiya traveled to Amegakure to investigate the Akatsuki leader.
• Jiraiya discovered that Pain’s bodies were puppets controlled by Nagato, and Madara rescued Jiraiya before teleporting the Six Paths of Pain away from Amegakure.
• Madara confronted Pain and the Six Paths in Amegakure, struck Deva Path Pain, and demanded to know why they had formed the Akatsuki and captured the tailed beasts.

Madara secured Nagato’s Rinnegan and allied Amegakure with Konoha while Obito and Edo Madara moved to start a war. At the Five Kage Summit, the villages formed an alliance, and Edo Madara met the reincarnated Hokage as Hashirama broke free of Orochimaru’s control.

• Madara defeated the Six Paths of Pain, took Nagato’s Rinnegan in exchange for Amegakure’s safety, and returned to Jiraiya.
• Obito attacked Kumogakure and Kisame fought Killer B, but Killer B survived and the Raikage called a Five Kage Summit.
• Naruto befriended Kurama and gained Golden Body Mode, while Madara told Konoha’s team that Nagato had allied with them to protect Amegakure.
• Obito discovered Nagato had defected, and Kabuto revealed that he had revived the real Madara Uchiha and offered to help recover the Rinnegan.
• Madara restored his Rinnegan and transplanted Itachi’s eyes into Sasuke, while Nagato received new eyes and accepted Konoha’s support.
• At the Five Kage Summit, Gaara criticized the villages for ignoring the Akatsuki threat, then Naruto and Sasuke helped the Kage repel Edo Madara and Obito.
• Edo Madara declared war and dropped a meteor on the Land of Iron, but Naruto and Sasuke destroyed it, and the Five Kage agreed to form an Allied Shinobi Forces army under Madara’s leadership.

Orochimaru and Madara’s attacks killed the daimyo across the Five Great Nations and threatened to prevent an allied army from forming. Madara became Acting Daimyo of the Land of Fire, then sent Sasuke and Aoyama to secure the Land of Wind’s cooperation, where rival factions began accepting mediation.

• Orochimaru revealed that Tobirama’s policies had isolated the Uchiha, while Madara explained that he had left Konoha because it could not bring true peace.
• The daimyo signed a declaration naming Itachi supreme commander, but assassinations and attacks by reanimated Kage killed leaders across the Five Great Nations and deepened distrust between villages.
• Orochimaru and Obito clashed over their plans as Minato attacked Konoha, but Naruto defeated him and Madara took him away to extract Kurama’s chakra.
• Sasuke fought Obito, saw through Kamui, and defeated him after awakening the Rinnegan and summoning Perfect Susanoo.
• Shikaku identified Madara and Orochimaru as the force behind the daimyo killings, and Madara traveled to the Capital to reassure the surviving ministers.
• Shinhiko, Yuanxin, and the nobles asked Madara to become Acting Daimyo, and he accepted while promising to protect the Capital and form an allied army.
• Aoyama proposed bringing the Land of Wind and Sunagakure under Madara’s influence, so Madara sent Sasuke’s team and Shikamaru to negotiate with the Land of Wind’s factions.
• Sasuke’s display of Perfect Susanoo frightened the samurai into submission, and Aoyama told the Takahashi and Sato factions that the Land of Fire would mediate without changing their balance of power, and their leaders bowed together.

Hokage Madara brought the Land of Wind and Land of Water under Konoha’s control, while Edo Madara and Kabuto crushed the Land of Lightning and Land of Earth. The Allied Shinobi Forces launched their counterattack, and Naruto’s forces defeated several reanimated enemies as Sasuke and Hokage Madara confronted Edo Madara and Hashirama.

• Aoyama settled the Takahashi and Sato factions’ rivalry, became Acting Daimyo of the Land of Wind, and named Sasuke Daimyo as Sunagakure prepared to join Konoha’s war.
• Sasuke fought Gaara in Sunagakure, then confirmed that the Land of Wind had submitted to the Hokage in exchange for aid and resources.
• Zabuza and Haku forced Acting Daimyo Kiyomori to sign the Land of Water’s submission, and Hokage Madara brought him and the senior officials to the Land of Fire.
• Kabuto and Edo Madara defeated the Land of Lightning’s leaders and destroyed Kumogakure, while Edo Madara defeated Ōnoki and Iwagakure’s army, leaving both nations unable to resist.
• Hokage Madara organized the Allied Shinobi Forces, with Sasuke leading the attack on the Land of Earth and Naruto leading the attack on the Land of Lightning.
• Sasuke shattered Edo Madara’s meteors and fought him as Hashirama overwhelmed the Allied forces with Wood Release, until Hokage Madara joined the battlefield and helped Sasuke immobilize Hashirama.
• Hokage Madara subdued Edo Madara and summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, while Naruto’s army fought the reanimated Mizukage, Hokage, Tsuchikage, Kazekage, Deidara, and Sasori.
• Naruto’s forces sealed the Second Mizukage, Second Tsuchikage, Third Kazekage, Deidara, and Sasori, while Jiraiya joined the battle and Kakashi said his trap was nearly complete.
