Tobirama had found things rather strange lately. Ever since he announced that the Senju could give up their surname, Kana had seemed gloomy all day long. His elder brother's second daughter had always been a headache for him. Unlike her older sister, she was unwilling to settle for things as they were and had always wanted to become a ninja.
Her older sister, Misaki, had married the son of the Land of Whirlpools' daimyo early on. Even if she never became a ninja, no one would say anything. Kana, however, was different. She had not been betrothed to any nobleman, so in theory, she was certain to become a ninja. Only Hashirama's opposition had kept her from doing so.
When it came to arrangements for the children, Tobirama shared his elder brother's views. He hoped Misaki and Kana could both live peaceful lives rather than face dangerous missions as ninja. That way, he could do right by his brother.
