Kana had visited the Kazemori home more than once and felt as comfortable there as in her own house. She came to the study and knocked softly. A voice answered from inside, "Is that you, Miss Kana?"
"Yes," Kana replied. "You recognized me right away, Mr. Kazemori."
"Your footsteps are familiar, though I haven't heard them in a long time." Kazemori Masaki opened the study door and smiled at Kana. "This isn't the best place to talk. Let's go to the living room."
The two went to the living room and sat facing each other across a table. Kazemori Masaki studied Kana. She now possessed a distinctive air, unlike that of the ninja in Konoha Ninja Village—the air of someone who moved in high society. The Hyuga Clan probably came closest to it in the village, but they lived far from the Capital and clung stubbornly to tradition. Kana's current dress and bearing better reflected the nobility of the Land of Fire today.
"Miss Kana, what brings you here today?" Kazemori Masaki asked.
"Mr. Kazemori, can't I come to see you without a reason?" Kana asked with a smile.
"Haha, of course you can. If there really is nothing in particular, I'd like to hear about some of your experiences in the Capital." Kazemori Masaki smiled faintly.
Kana chuckled. "You really do take an interest in these things, Mr. Kazemori. But perhaps that's exactly why you come up with such unheard-of ideas?"
To Kana, Kazemori Masaki was a wise man. When she had been young and ignorant, he had shown her the path she should take, and as she worked to revive ninshu, he had inspired her time and again.
