Mitokado Homura watched silently as Chikku lost consciousness. Once he confirmed that Chikku had truly passed out, he said, "The winner of the third round is Heizo Hattori."
Had Chikku heard Mitokado Homura's announcement, he would certainly have been shocked. To Homura and the spectators, however, the decision was beyond dispute. Heizō Hattori stood a short distance away, silently watching the unconscious Chikku. There was no sign that he had suffered any further injury from the Explosive Tags. That had been an illusion seen only by Chikku.
To the other people present, Chikku had fallen to the ground after Heizo Hattori kicked him in the head. He seemed to have tried to retaliate immediately with Explosive Tags, only to detonate them beside himself and knock himself unconscious. True experts, however, could see what had happened. Chikku had not mishandled his Explosive Tags; Heizo Hattori's genjutsu had deceived his eyes.
The Shadow Clone Chikku had shattered carried a genjutsu trap. The moment it was destroyed, physical contact would draw the attacker into the illusion. This was a contact-based form of genjutsu.
Genjutsu affected the mind by disrupting an opponent's chakra. To disrupt that chakra, the user injected their own chakra into the opponent's body, chiefly through the five senses. Heizō Hattori's genjutsu worked through touch, making it particularly suited to close combat. Kurenai Yuhi, a genjutsu expert of a later era, excelled at this method of combining clones with genjutsu. She called this technique the Naraka Clone.
Now, however, Heizo Hattori had already begun using this genjutsu tactic. Kazemori Masaki knew that relying on movements alone to deceive an opponent was
