Zetsu was somewhat surprised. If these thoughts had been inherited from "Katsuya Uchiha's" body, the person the current Katsuya Uchiha should have hated was Kagami Uchiha, not Kazemori Masaki. Zetsu understood these people's shortsightedness very well. Otherwise, it could never have exploited them.

On second thought, Zetsu seemed to understand. This fragment of a soul had been summoned from the Pure Land by those Evil God Worshippers in the Land of Demons back then. The summoners' intentions had probably lingered within it as well, and as far as Zetsu knew, the person who had thwarted that operation seemed to have been Kazemori Masaki.

Still, even if those people had succeeded in their summoning, what could it have accomplished? The Katsuya Uchiha before it did not seem particularly remarkable. Just as Zetsu was thinking this, it suddenly noticed something unusual.

Katsuya Uchiha's corpse had been badly mangled after falling into the mountain ravine. Zetsu had stitched it back together, even splitting off parts of its own body to connect certain vital areas. Logically, even if the infusion of the soul fragment had restored his life, his injuries should still have remained.

Yet the man before it seemed utterly unconcerned. His wounds did not appear to affect him at all. This surprised Zetsu, and it thought, Could that soul's descent from the Pure Land into this world actually have had some effect?

The reborn Katsuya Uchiha felt power surging through his entire body. Looking at the black shadows flowing over him, he asked, "What is this stuff?"

"It's part of my body. It keeps yours in one piece," Zetsu said.

"I don't need it," Katsuya Uchiha replied. "I don't know why, but I feel like I won't die now. Injuries that would kill an ordinary person mean nothing to me."

Zetsu fell
