While the other Konoha Ninjas moved to intercept the Chakra Samurai, Kagami Uchiha caught his breath and stayed where he was. Impressive as his destruction of nearly two hundred Chakra Samurai had been, it had also consumed an enormous amount of chakra, and he could already feel the fatigue in his body.

Kagami Uchiha closed his eyes and rested for a moment, giving his aching eyes a chance to recover. Then he opened them, took a Soldier Pill from his Ninja Tool Pouch, and put it in his mouth, chewing briefly before swallowing.

Once he felt a little better, Kagami Uchiha raised his sickle and told those who had remained to protect him, "Follow them."

The others answered at once and hurried after Kagami Uchiha. His earlier attack had scattered the Chakra Samurai's tight formation, and before they could regroup, the Konoha Ninjas used various methods to split them up further, leaving them scattered and disorganized.

This was the best way to deal with samurai. Their strength lay in fighting in formation, and their threat increased dramatically with their numbers. Against the same number of opponents, ninjas could eliminate scattered samurai at relatively little cost. But against samurai in a fully assembled formation, they might pay a much higher price—or even suffer defeat.

This was especially true of samurai who cultivated chakra, whose physical condition differed from that of ordinary people. Allowing such opponents to form up would reduce their chances of victory, so Kagami Uchiha naturally would not choose that approach.

Fortunately, although the Chakra Samurai were formidable fighters, their minds were sluggish. They were clearly less capable than normal people of responding to certain tactics; even ordinary samurai reacted better than they did.

By the time Kagami Uchiha caught up, the Chakra Samurai were already surrounded by ninjas.
