From everything I've learned, Liu Yi should be the person closest to me. I remember her being in the nightmare, too.
With only a door between them, Gao Ming hesitated for a long time before slowly taking out his key. A voice came from room 401, whose walls did little to block sound.
"If construction on a property stalls, you still have to pay off the mortgage, because your debt relationship with the bank doesn't change with the property's condition. The buyer and the developer have a sales relationship, while the buyer and the bank have a lending relationship. Although the purchase contract is the basis for taking out a bank loan, those two contracts are independent."
Gao Ming sighed softly. From the chat history on his phone, he had pieced together roughly what had happened. He lived in an old apartment belonging to Liu Yi's family, in a building older than her great-grandfather. It was cramped and narrow, and the conditions were terrible. To move out, he and his girlfriend, Liu Yi, had taken out a loan to buy a new home. They had agreed to get married once they moved in, but who could have known construction would stall—and remain stalled for two years?
Opening the door, Gao Ming looked at the figure inside. The woman in the photos on his phone overlapped with the woman before him. In a spotless white shirt and blue jeans, she looked capable and sharp. Liu Yi wasn't particularly good at dressing herself up; she looked like someone who gave everything she had just to get by.
"After work tomorrow evening, I'll join the others in the homeowners' group to prepare the documents. New policies have already been introduced, and construction has resumed on lots of developments. Please don't worry."
