Many of the souls abandoned in the deep world were like Black Dog, curled up in their own "cellars," letting darkness wash over their wounds as they were left to live or die. The island in the Fog Sea had taken them in and given them something to hold on to.
Black Dog had emerged from Gao Ming's shadow, and that familiar sight brought certain memories back to the shadow.
"Are you his shadow?"
To Black Dog, the shadow was the divine spirit he worshipped. His enormous head bobbed up and down in answer.
"Then if I wanted to kill him, would you help me? Or him?" the shadow suddenly asked. A terrifying curse permeated his icy voice, and the sudden pressure nearly crushed Black Dog's body.
Disbelief shone in his pitch-black eyes. Black Dog rose from the ground against the pressure, his black fur surging like ocean waves. He leaped between the shadow and the Flesh-and-Blood Immortal, standing guard in front of Gao Ming.
Black Dog had already made his choice clear through his actions.
"Your fate is in your own hands. Why become someone else's shadow?" The killing intent vanished instantly, as though it had never existed. The shadow's volatile nature put the Flesh-and-Blood Immortal and Number Two on high alert. Neither knew how to stand against such a powerful calamity god.
Through countless years of wandering between past and future, burdened by sins and curses, the shadow had never spoken to anyone. Even he had not expected this accident to bring him back onto the island.
Although Gao Ming had drawn an attack from three Unspeakables, he was also, at the root of it all, the one who had awakened the shadow that had become the island.
