Background / History

The Ten Thousand Swords Sect was founded on the way of the sword. Over its ten-thousand-year history, it became the Southern Region’s dominant power and one of the Immortal Spirit Continent’s five supreme human sects 6.

The Immortal-Demon War a thousand years earlier destroyed the continent’s Ascension Stairs, leaving its strongest cultivators unable to ascend. The sect’s supreme elders entered prolonged seclusion; Heavenly Venerable Yinsu, the closest to true Ascension, had remained secluded for five hundred years 20.

Fifty years before Tang Yan’s warning about a demonic resurgence, senior cultivators detected increasingly violent demonic energy in ancient war ruins. They reinforced the suppression formations, while major sects and clans continued cooperating against surviving Demon Clan remnants 20.

The sect has Sect Leader, Grand Elder, Peak Master, Deputy Peak Master, and elder positions, alongside direct, ordinary inner, outer, and servant disciples. Senior cultivators and their personal disciples possess separate peaks or cave residences 9 26 29 36.

Sect Culture

Loyalty and Respect for Strength

The sect is notorious for protecting its own, making outsiders reluctant to provoke its disciples. Members generally favor direct action over scheming and regard strength as the basis for respect 14 35.

When Tang Yan reveals Wei Lianyi’s extraordinary future achievements, disciples respond with admiration and collective pride rather than jealousy. Disciples from different peaks insist that she belongs to the entire sect, not merely Pill Peak 35.

Tang Yan’s Thoughts and the Gossip Craze

  • Cultivators at Golden Core or above can hear Tang Yan’s thoughts. Sect members establish this threshold through testing at Purple Dawn Peak 14.
  • Xi Tong enters their Seas of Consciousness and threatens them against revealing the phenomenon to Tang Yan. Even Fu Shouci cannot resist the intrusion 14.
  • Members initially cannot repeat, write down, or transmit the overheard information through Divine Sense; they communicate their reactions through looks 14.
  • Disciples gather around Tang Yan with cushions, drinks, and snacks, sometimes abandoning cultivation or tournament duties to follow anticipated scandals 5 22 42.
  • Gossip reaches the senior leadership as well: Peak Masters attend ceremonies or hide near competitions hoping to hear new revelations 14 29 44.
  • Disciples develop and privately sell intimate-body-part protective talismans and formations. Fu Shouci orders the Law Enforcement Hall to suppress the trend as a threat to the sect’s dignity 37.

  • Tang Yan’s thoughts identify Artifact Peak elder Han Zhongjin as an abductor and Demon Clan mole raising an Evil Being against the sect 46 47.
  • Fu Shouci and other senior members isolate Han in the Artifact Peak Hall, seal his escape routes, and capture him in Bai Wuxia’s golden net 48.
  • Xu Yi’s soul search confirms the hidden estate and its crimes. He destroys Han’s cultivation but leaves him alive to avoid warning the estate through a possible soul lamp 49.
