When Ning Shile and the other five arrived at Sister Li's house, Sister Ting was arguing her case with the village chief.
"No. The show's director specifically told me about this," Village Chief Zhao said sternly, his brows tightly furrowed. "Letting them stay for a meal breaks the rules."
Sister Ting frowned too, clearly disagreeing.
"Anyone who comes is a guest, Chief." After some thought, Sister Ting brought out an old saying, hoping to persuade him.
"This isn't about whether they're guests. It's about the rules." Village Chief Zhao stood with one hand behind his back and the other at his side, unmoved.
With that, the village chief turned to look at Ning Shile and the others, then turned back to Sister Ting. "They're filming a show. This isn't an ordinary visit, is it?"
"But anyone who comes is a guest!"
Sister Ting tucked her hair behind her ear and pondered for a moment, then lifted her chin slightly to look at Village Chief Zhao. "It's just one meal. It's no big deal."
"But this isn't about whether it's a big deal..." Village Chief Zhao seemed somewhat helpless. Sister Ting had always struck him as easygoing and accommodating. Why couldn't he get through to her today?
Sister Ting couldn't understand it either. How had Village Chief Zhao become so unreasonable?
It was only a meal. Why couldn't she feed them? Besides, she was cooking for Lele in her own home, not feeding him at the public's expense.
Neither would agree with the other, and they reached an impasse.
[The village chief looks so serious. Are they going to get into a fight?]
[And these two are family, too.]
Worried that Sister Ting and the village chief would fall out, Ning Shile hurriedly put down the fishing net and walked over.
