After the first hit proved effective, Jiang Chi ordered Jellicent to keep attacking Kingdra with Hex's doubled damage.
Jellicent gathered another mass of dark energy blocks, coating them in Ghost-type energy before firing them rapidly at Kingdra.
"Kingdra, snap out of it! Fight back with Dragon Pulse!"
"Hah-tss! Hah-tss!"
With his Trainer's continued encouragement, Kingdra gradually regained his senses and used the Dragon-type energy within his body to form countless rippling waves that drifted toward Jellicent.
The attacks formed by Dragon Pulse and Hex slipped neatly past each other in midair, each striking the opposing Pokémon.
Kingdra was hit by Hex again, while the severe poison continued taking its toll. His HP plummeted and soon reached zero.
Meanwhile, Kingdra's full-power Dragon Pulse struck Jellicent in the abdomen. His HP also dropped rapidly, and just as the Dragon-type energy was exhausted, Jellicent was knocked out.
Jellicent's defenses were fairly good, and Acid Armor had raised his Physical Defense considerably. Zhang Cheng had taken that into account, which was why he had ordered Kingdra to use the special move Dragon Pulse for this attack.
Both Pokémon fell at the same time, trading knockouts. Zhang Cheng was perfectly happy with that outcome, since he still had three Pokémon capable of battling, while Jiang Chi had only two left.
Zhang Cheng could more or less guess that Jiang Chi's final ace would be a Gengar capable of Mega Evolution, but it was hard to predict what his next Pokémon would be.
Still, having one extra Pokémon gave him some room for trial and error. He did not need to overthink it; he could simply send out his Pokémon and battle as usual.
