Facing Zhang Cheng's Butterfree, Ye Tian chose Kingdra as his third Pokémon.
Zhang Cheng had two reasons for sending out Kingdra. The first was that Kingdra knew Clear Smog, which could remove Butterfree's stat boosts.
The second was that Poliwrath had brought on rainy weather during the previous battle. Kingdra also had the Swift Swim ability, making this the perfect chance to take full advantage of its strengths.
"Butterfree, use Bug Buzz!"
Seeing Zhang Cheng send out a new Pokémon, Ye Tian immediately launched an attack.
The Flying-type and Bug-type moves Butterfree excelled at were equally effective against Kingdra, so Ye Tian chose Bug Buzz, which dealt slightly more damage than Air Slash.
Upon receiving Ye Tian's command, Butterfree rapidly beat its wings and let out a piercing buzz.
"Kingdra, use Clear Smog!"
With the rainy weather boosting its speed, Kingdra was considerably faster than Butterfree, even after three Quiver Dances.
Zhang Cheng had been waiting for Butterfree to attack before ordering Kingdra to unleash Clear Smog.
"Hiss~ Hiss~"
Kingdra drew in Poison-type energy and spewed a huge cloud of purple smog from its mouth. The smog quickly spread across the entire battlefield.
Even airborne, Butterfree could not escape. Upon contact with Clear Smog, all the boosts it had gained from Quiver Dance disappeared.
As Kingdra unleashed Clear Smog, Butterfree's Bug Buzz struck it as well.
This Bug Buzz still carried the boosts from Quiver Dance and packed a considerable punch, taking away half of Kingdra's HP in one hit.
However, Zhang Cheng found that perfectly acceptable. In his eyes, sacrificing half of Kingdra's HP to remove Butterfree's stat boosts was well worth it.
