Zhang Cheng woke in a world where Pokémon had appeared a century earlier and prepared to choose his first partner before turning sixteen. After his mother gave him the money his absent father had left for that purpose, Zhang Cheng headed to a Pokémon Day Care, determined to work hard as a Trainer and uncover what had happened to his father.
