Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Innate soul power: level two 1 Begins with two poorly developed martial souls: Blue Silver Grass and Luo Sanpao.
Level thirty / Soul Elder 1 His introduction describes fourteen years of cultivation with his parents’ support; he displays three soul rings at the academy gates.
Rank thirty-nine / Soul Elder 2 Explicitly stated during his private training. His physical strength exceeds rank fifty, while opening all Eight Gates gives him Soul Saint-level combat power.
Level forty 5 Breaks through his bottleneck after accepting Tang San and prepares to obtain a fourth Blue Silver Grass ring before strengthening Luo Sanpao.
Fourth ring; Blue Silver Tree evolution 5 With his parents’ help, obtains a ring from a Fateflow Star Tree. Repeated tree-type ring absorption has evolved his Blue Silver Grass into a Blue Silver Tree.
Level forty-one / Soul Ancestor 6 The evolved tree absorbs most of the ring’s soul-power gain. His cultivation speed doubles, and improved recovery lets him sustain the Eight Gates longer.
Rank fifty-nine / Soul King; further Luo Sanpao evolution 7 Reached after six years. Little Purple has three dragon-beast rings and Soul Saint-level combat power; Li Sen can suppress a Soul Douluo with all Eight Gates open.
  • Early-rank discrepancy: Chapter 1 describes him as having barely reached level thirty, whereas Chapter 2 explicitly gives rank thirty-nine 1 2.
  • Fourth-ring discrepancy: Chapter 5 identifies a thirty-thousand-year Fateflow Star Tree ring granting Star Fate. Chapter 6 instead lists a forty-thousand-year fourth ring granting Blue Silver Tree Domain 5 6.
  • Pending advancement: The hundred-thousand-year Devouring Demon Tree is proposed as his sixth ring, but he has not absorbed it by Chapter 17 14 15 16 17.

Background / History

Transmigration and early cultivation

Li Sen transmigrates into the Douluo world twenty years before meeting Tang San. Despite having living parents, financial support, and twin martial souls, his level-two innate soul power makes advancement difficult. His initial goals are to grow stronger, become a god, and protect his parents from the upheaval he expects to follow Tang San’s destruction of Spirit Hall 1.

He develops cultivation techniques using his exceptional memory and knowledge from his previous life. Strengthening his martial souls slows his visible soul-power advancement: Luo Sanpao consumes half the soul power Li Sen cultivates, while its own cultivation returns one-fifth of its gains to him 2.

Taking Tang San as a disciple

At Nuoding Academy, Li Sen stops the gatekeepers from humiliating Tang San and requires them to apologize. In private, he links Tang San’s innate full soul power to a powerful Blue Silver bloodline and deduces that he possesses twin martial souls 1.

Tang San formally accepts him after rejecting Yu Xiaogang. Li Sen supplies money, necessities, and soul-beast books, then takes him to the Star Dou Great Forest for his first ring. During the expedition, he reveals Little Purple and protects Tang San from a Wind Wolf pack 2 3.

After returning, Li Sen resigns from the academy and relocates Tang San to Blue Silver World. He allows Xiao Wu to accompany them but refuses her request for formal discipleship 4 5.

Six years of training

Li Sen strengthens Tang San through soul-power pressure, controlled beatings, plant-vitality recovery, medicinal baths, and soul-beast meat. After six years, Tang San reaches rank thirty-seven with yellow, purple, and purple rings and can fight a Soul Ancestor 7.

During this period, Li Sen takes Tang San on a hunt for a seventy-thousand-year dragon beast capable of fighting a Soul Douluo. When Tang San disobeys instructions and intervenes, Li Sen suffers serious injuries shielding him from an attack; they ultimately win 12.

Suotuo City and public recognition

Li Sen moves the group to Suotuo City while pursuing immortal herbs. He asks Tang San to challenge the poison-using Dugu Yan at the Soul Fighting Arena as part of that plan 7.

When Yu Xiaogang brings Flender to pressure Tang San into changing masters, Li Sen answers his disciple’s emergency signal. He catches Flender’s attack with one hand, using physical strength and only the first Eight Gate. Flender apologizes and pays 10,000 Gold Soul Coins, while the encounter makes Li Sen famous locally 11 12.

Li Kui subsequently offers him the location of a crippled hundred-thousand-year Devouring Demon Tree imprisoned in Yin-Yang Valley. In exchange, the dying man entrusts his granddaughters, Li Xin and Li Yue, to Li Sen. Li Sen cannot save Li Kui but accepts responsibility for the sisters 14 15.

Guiding Zhu Zhuqing and Tang San’s evolution

Li Sen initially refuses Zhu Zhuqing’s apprenticeship request because of the danger posed by the Star Luo imperial succession struggle. After she pursues an intimate relationship with him in exchange for guidance, he begins planning her training and teaches her the Origin Return Art 13 16 17.

He also asks Tang Hao to give Tang San the hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor soul bone. Once Tang Hao agrees, Li Sen directs Tang San to feed its energy into his martial soul, initiating a transformation of his Blue Silver Grass 17.

Appearance

  • Youthful face and upright bearing: Zhu Zhuqing notes that he looks like a member of the younger generation despite his disciple’s remarkable strength 7.
  • Dragon mask: Wears a ferocious dragon mask when leaving Nuoding City to conceal his identity 5.
  • Eight Gates transformation: His muscles swell, his skin glows red, and blood seeps from his body as the technique exceeds his physical limits. Opening all eight produces a surge of crimson energy 6.

Personality

Li Sen is pragmatic and openly self-interested. He initially seeks Tang San’s loyalty as protection for himself and his parents, and evaluates prospective disciples according to the benefits and complications they bring. Nevertheless, he treats accepting a disciple as a binding responsibility rather than an arrangement he can abandon when inconvenient 1 5 13.

His teaching emphasizes preparation, bodily resilience, and informed choice. He explains multiple cultivation paths instead of declaring one universally best, and intends Tang San to make his own decisions once he understands the theory. He also teaches concealment, tactical retreat, and restraint in killing when no life-and-death feud exists 2 5 13.

He is protective of those he accepts as his own, risking serious injury for Tang San and defending Li Xin and Li Yue from Ning Rongrong’s insults. His interest in pleasure is equally explicit: he purchases the twins’ sexual services, acknowledges his lustfulness, and does not hide his relationships to preserve his reputation 8 12 15 16.

His restraint is often strategic rather than forgiving. He avoids fully exposing his strength against Flender because doing so could attract a Titled Douluo from Spirit Hall before he has secured the resources he needs 12.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Tree

Li Sen develops his first martial soul along a combined food, support, and control path, prioritizing vitality over direct offense. Its healing and energy absorption sustain his physical training and Eight Gates usage 2 5 6.

Soul Skill Ring Age Documented Effects
Blue Silver Source Gathering 970 years Increases physical strength and recovery by 100%; connects to plants within one li to absorb vitality 6.
Blue Silver Power 4,600 years Increases martial-soul toughness and hardness, and physical recovery, by 500% 6.
Soul of Life 9,500 years Doubles vitality and vitality-sensing range; removes vulnerability to vital-point injuries 6.
Star Fate 30,000 years in this account Triples soul-power recovery, vitality absorption, and vitality; doubles martial-soul toughness; grants energy draining and star-powered healing of hidden injuries 5.
Blue Silver Tree Domain 40,000 years in this account Reduces soul-power consumption by 50%; doubles soul-skill effects, vitality absorption, and injury recovery 6.
  • Star Fate and Blue Silver Tree Domain are conflicting descriptions of the fourth ring, not confirmed separate ring slots 5 6.
  • Tree branches can transmit contact signals and guide others toward him. Tang San’s emergency branch alerts him when infused with soul power and explodes under severe pressure 11 17.
  • His sensitivity to surrounding Blue Silver Grass exceeds Tang San’s after their six years of training 7.

Luo Sanpao / Little Purple

Little Purple is a conscious martial soul that manifests independently. Li Sen cultivates its draconic bloodline through specialized training, lightning-attribute dragon meat, and dragon-beast soul rings 2 3 7.

  • Independent action: Can fight outside Li Sen’s body, but cannot possess him like a conventional beast martial soul 3.
  • Tracking: Uses keen senses to locate soul beasts and detect threats 3.
  • Early combat strength: Before receiving rings, its physical strength can contend with a Soul Ancestor 3.
  • Later combat strength: After obtaining three dragon-beast rings and further evolution, it rivals a Soul Saint 7.
  • Cultivation assistance: Functions much like a second cultivator, accelerating Li Sen’s development while also consuming resources for its own evolution 2 7.

Eight Gates

The Eight Gates release physical power beyond the body’s normal limits. Li Sen offsets the resulting damage with vitality absorption and regeneration from his first martial soul 2 6.

  • Opening all eight initially gives him Soul Saint-level combat power; after the six-year interval, it lets him suppress a Soul Douluo 2 7.
  • He blocks Flender’s attack using only physical strength and the first gate, without activating his martial soul or soul skills 12.
  • He can keep the first three gates open for half a day without martial-soul support 12.
  • His body’s toughness reaches a level comparable to a Titled Douluo’s, but this does not mean his strength or soul-power rank equals a Titled Douluo’s 12.
  • He teaches the technique to Tang San, who uses its first gate to defeat Dai Mubai 8.

Origin Return Art

Li Sen creates the Origin Return Art from the Meridian Compendium of his previous life. It uses multiple circulation routes to compress soul power, open meridians, and increase cultivation speed 17.

  • Zhu Zhuqing finds it more than twice as efficient as her family’s meditation method 17.
  • Blocked meridians must be opened gradually; she requires two hours merely to memorize the routes 17.
  • Li Sen does not teach it to Tang San because Tang San already possesses the Mysterious Heaven Skill 17.

Cultivation Theory and Medicine

Li Sen tailors training to martial soul, intended combat role, personality, and recovery capacity 10 17.

  • Refines whale rubber to remove impurities and strengthen the body for older soul-ring absorption 5.
  • Combines medicinal baths, soul-beast meat, pressure training, and plant vitality to build Tang San’s physique 7.
  • Avoids applying that same injury-intensive regimen to Zhu Zhuqing because her martial soul lacks sufficient healing ability 17.
  • Considers a clone-based fighting style and self-created soul skills for Zhu Zhuqing’s agility-focused Nether Civet 16.
  • Estimates that his own body can absorb rings younger than two hundred thousand years after the six-year training period 7.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Dragon-wing external soul bone — Possesses this bone but deliberately conceals it from Tang Hao; its specific abilities are not described 16.
  • Ferocious dragon mask — Used to hide his identity during travel 5.
  • Blue Silver Tree branches — Martial-soul products given to Tang San and Tang Hao for signaling and locating him 11 17.
  • Storage bracelet — Gives it to Tang San with 1,000 Gold Soul Coins, everyday supplies, and soul-beast books 2.
  • Cultivation supplies — Uses lightning-attribute dragon meat, refined whale rubber, medicinal herbs, and body-tempering baths 2 5 7.

Relationships

  • Tang San — His formally accepted disciple. Tang San regards him as the parent who gave him a second life; Li Sen supplies his training, resources, protection, and martial-soul guidance 2 12 17.
  • Li De — His father, a rank-seventy-five assault-type Soul Master with the Purple Blaze Dragon martial soul. Helps obtain rings and hunt the Violet Lightning Demon Dragon 5 6.
  • Qingwan — His mother, a rank-seventy-one support/control Soul Master with Moon Profound Grass. Supports the family’s hunts and Li Sen’s martial-soul evolution 6.
  • Xiao Wu — Travels and lives with his group but is repeatedly refused formal discipleship. His casual suggestion changes her second soul skill from Charm to Teleportation 5 12 13.
  • Tang Hao — Tang San’s father. Initially threatens Li Sen, later thanks him for teaching his son, but remains suspicious about the Blue Silver Emperor soul bone. Li Sen conceals important abilities from him 2 16 17.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Rival would-be mentor who repeatedly tries to claim Tang San. Li Sen criticizes his theory and handling of Luo Sanpao; Yu becomes jealous of Li Sen’s strength 2 3 11 12.
  • Flender — Attempts to enforce Yu Xiaogang’s demand through force. After Li Sen stops his attack, he apologizes and pays compensation 11 12.
  • Li Xin and Li Yue — Twin partners initially met through a paid arrangement. Li Sen later calls them his wives, promises equal treatment, and assumes responsibility for their protection and cultivation 11 15.
  • Li Kui — The twins’ grandfather. Entrusts them to Li Sen and reveals the imprisoned Devouring Demon Tree before dying 14 15.
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Initially rejected as a disciple; later becomes his intimate partner and receives cultivation instruction. He acknowledges her as part of his household without explicitly formalizing an apprenticeship 13 16 17.
  • Ning Rongrong — Alternates between condemning his conduct and seeking his instruction. Her insults toward him and the twins cause conflict with his household 8 10 12 13 15.
  • Spirit Hall — Tracks him after his unusually old second ring is exposed. Fear of forced recruitment or pursuit by a Titled Douluo drives his secrecy 5 12.
