The moment that thought surfaced, Zhang Xiu lost his composure. If the Yaoshi before him really was different from the one outside, he had no desire to seek her help.
It wasn't that he feared Yaoshi would refuse to help. He simply felt that doing so would wrong both versions of her.
"Um, honey, do you remember what we went through in Belobog and on the Xianzhou?"
Yaoshi shook her head. "I know only that thou art my husband. Of all else, I know nothing."
At those words, Zhang Xiu became certain that she wasn't the woman he knew.
Herta was rapidly organizing the information. Though she knew how mighty the Aeons were, this was still far too outrageous.
Yaoshi had most likely branded Zhang Xiu into her own mind. Since an Aeon's attainment was eternal once achieved, even this Yaoshi, far back in the Swarm Disaster, possessed those memories.
"Well... I'm sorry, honey." Zhang Xiu hesitated for a moment before deciding to come clean:
"You aren't the woman I know from my memories. I can't go against my conscience and ask anything of you."
At that, Herta stopped recording her data, and a trace of contemplation entered the thousands of crimson eyes on Yaoshi's body.
After a long silence, she slowly spoke. "Now I understand why I fell in love with thee. Yet, as we are husband and wife, let this not cause thee to hesitate."
"Once more, pray unto me."
That was right. If the Yaoshi outside could influence the Yaoshi inside, then the one inside should also be able to influence the one outside.
He looked at Herta. Knowing what he wanted to ask, she simply said, "Logically speaking, the one outside will gain memories of spending time with you during the Swarm Disaster."
