The sky gradually darkened.

Inside the burger joint, Lin Luo and the two girls sat facing one another.

Besides burgers, the table was covered with assorted snacks.

Looking at the food before her, Asia felt conflicted.

Although she was starving, she still felt embarrassed about walking in with strangers like this.

She wanted to leave, but she was just so hungry.

"Don't just stare. Have something to eat. It's my treat."

Lin Luo looked with amusement at the girl whose every emotion showed on her face. "Or do you think this is junk food?"

"No, not at all!"

Asia shook her head in a fluster before saying quietly:

"Th-then... thank you."

With that, Asia picked up a burger and began eating.

At first, Asia took tiny bites, but she ate faster and faster until her cheeks were stuffed full, her face brimming with contentment.

"It's delicious. It's so delicious!"

Utaha Kasumigaoka asked without thinking, "Have you never had a burger before?"

"No."

Asia shook her head. "The church didn't have things like this. There was only bread."

"..."

Utaha Kasumigaoka fell silent.

What kind of life had this girl been living?

Did the church even scrimp on food for its nuns?

Only when Asia finally couldn't eat another bite did Lin Luo speak. "Asia, can we talk now?"

"How do you know me?"

Asia's eyes widened. "Have we met before?"

"This is our first meeting, but I know about you."

Lin Luo continued, "A nun who can heal devils—you're probably the only one, aren't you?"

What?

Th-th-th-this!

Asia froze, then began trembling slightly.

Could these two kind people be fallen angels too?

I only just escaped!

Despite herself, Asia's expression grew sorrowful.

My faith must not be devout enough. That's why the Lord has punished me.

What is this girl imagining now?

Watching the vivid changes in Asia's expression,

"You don't need to be afraid. I won't hurt you."

Lin Luo explained, "We're not from the church, and we're certainly not fallen angels."

Asia paused, then her pretty face flushed bright red.

Asia Argento, what are you thinking? How could you suspect the people who gave you food?

"Master is right, because we're Devils."

Utaha Kasumigaoka flashed a textbook villain's smile.

"D-Devils?"

After one shock after another, Asia had gone completely rigid.

"Utaha, why are you scaring her?"

Shaking his head helplessly, Lin Luo said:

"Although we really are Devils, we honestly mean you no harm."

Meeting Lin Luo's sincere gaze, Asia gradually calmed down.

If it's him, I can trust him.

For some reason, that thought came to her.

"Master, why weren't you this gentle with me back then?"

Utaha Kasumigaoka felt a little jealous.

So my master can speak nicely after all?

Why is his head full of nothing but filthy thoughts whenever he's with me?

"Really? I thought you liked that way of communicating."

"You perverted master, do you have some misunderstanding about what 'like' means?"

"Why didn't you say that when we were replenishing your magic?"

At that, Utaha Kasumigaoka's cheeks turned crimson, and she couldn't come up with a reply.

Her mind was filled with images of what had happened then.

Lin Luo gave her a surprised look.

Why does it feel like Utaha Kasumigaoka's sharp tongue has lost some of its bite?

But Asia was his priority right now. Lin Luo continued speaking to her. "You don't have anywhere to stay right now, do you? If you don't mind, I have a spare room at home."

"Would that really be all right?"

Asia's eyes widened, filled with joy and disbelief.

Ever since the Church had expelled her, she had been homeless.

Those words struck her right in the heart.

"Of course!"

Lin Luo smiled.

At Lin Luo's house!

After answering a few questions, Asia had fallen fast asleep.

Utaha Kasumigaoka sat on the living room sofa, looking at Lin Luo in surprise. "What a surprise. My lecherous master actually isn't doing anything?"

"What did you think I would do?"

"She is a beautiful girl, after all. I thought you'd at least force her to become your servant."

Lin Luo took some juice from the fridge and had a sip. "Her faith in the Lord is strong. It wouldn't be that easy."

Thinking of what Asia had gone through, Lin Luo felt conflicted.

He didn't consider himself a good person!

But he didn't think he had sunk so low that he had no principles at all.

Besides, having a servant meant nothing if they hadn't agreed willingly.

As Utaha Kasumigaoka watched Lin Luo, it was as though her understanding of him had been completely refreshed.

My master really is complicated.

But that makes him even more attractive.

"All right, it's late. Get some rest."

Lin Luo stretched and headed for the door.

"Where are you going?"

Utaha Kasumigaoka asked instinctively.

“It's nothing. This is my childhood friend's territory, after all. Now that I've learned something about those Fallen Angels, how could I sit around doing nothing?”

Chapter 10: Slaying the Fallen Angels

The nights in Kuoh Town were exceptionally quiet, with only a handful of pedestrians on the streets.

A light breeze drifted by, stirring the clouds and hiding the bright moon, making the night even darker.

Yet something even more ominous seemed to lurk within that darkness.

Several figures soared through the sky, as though their very existence embodied malice.

They had jet-black wings and slowly descended from different directions into a secluded park.

Their leader was a young woman with long black hair.

She looked at the others and asked impassively, “Have you found any trace of Asia?”

“We found her, Lady Raynare!”

A girl with twin ponytails spoke playfully. “And wouldn't you know it, we've run right into an old enemy. The Devil sheltering Asia is the very one who killed that useless Freed.”

"I see!"

Raynare toyed with her black hair, her beautiful face filled with cold cruelty. “Kalawarner, can I leave this to you?”

"As you command."

The one who answered was a tall woman.

“Lady Raynare, let me, Dohnaseek, go too.”

The only man among the four spoke up. “Freed might have been human, but he wasn't weak.”

"In that case, I'm going too. Leaving me here alone isn't fair."

The girl with twin ponytails spoke with adoration. "I, Mittelt, must be the one to present you with that nun's Sacred Gear."

"Indeed. This will make success even more certain."

Kalawarner agreed. “Besides, I heard the Governor was very pleased with the Sacred Gear extracted from that human earlier.”

Dohnaseek chimed in, “With Asia's Sacred Gear as well, Lady Raynare will surely distinguish herself among the Fallen Angels and join their upper ranks.”

"In that case, I'll leave it to you."

An entranced smile appeared on Raynare's face, as though she could already see her bright future.

But just then, an amused voice shattered her fantasy.

"That's a lovely dream. Unfortunately, it ends here."

"Who's there?"

The expressions of Raynare and her three companions changed, and they all looked toward the voice.

In the dimly lit park, a handsome man and a beautiful woman came into view.

“Oh my, so these are the so-called Fallen Angels? Why do their wings look like a crow's?”

Utaha Kasumigaoka looked at the four of them with undisguised distaste.

Their Devil wings look much better.

"But aren't there a few too many of them?"
