Background / History
Return from Jarilo-VI
Stelle has recently helped resolve the Stellaron crisis on Jarilo-VI alongside March 7th and Dan Heng. After the Astral Express rescues the unconscious Jiang Yao, the crew takes him to Herta Space Station for treatment. Himeko encourages the exhausted younger members to enjoy the station’s reception feast, though she warns Stelle against overeating 5.
Stelle and March compete enthusiastically for the food, but leave the centerpiece—plump beetles from a distant primeval forest—untouched until Himeko and Welt return. Stelle is astonished by their flavor and urges both senior crew members to eat with them 7.
Meeting Jiang Yao
The next morning, Stelle, March, and Dan Heng become concerned when Himeko and Welt fail to answer messages or calls. Stelle correctly connects their absence to Jiang Yao, although she mistakenly suspects something has happened to him. Their search eventually leads to Asta’s private kitchen 10 11 12.
Because the kitchen normally prepares Peppy’s food, Stelle and March initially imagine that Himeko and Welt are risking their lives taste-testing dog food. Instead, they discover a shared meal of Jiang Yao’s xiaolongbao and promptly ask to join. Stelle is overwhelmed by the buns, but regrets having eaten so much earlier that she cannot enjoy more 13 14.
When she learns that Jiang Yao has not actually agreed to join the Express, Stelle grabs his hand and begs him to come along. After he accepts the crew’s invitation, she celebrates with March. She subsequently asks to become his cooking apprentice; Jiang Yao declines a formal apprenticeship for the time being and tells her to watch him cook first 15 16.
Life aboard the Express
Stelle insists that Jiang Yao take the room closest to the kitchen and helps the other younger crew members tidy it. Although she and March announce that they are retiring to rest after lunch, both soon reappear in the dining car. Stelle openly calls Jiang Yao her “master” and claims she has come to help him 17 18.
When Jiang Yao volunteers to drink Himeko’s notorious coffee, Stelle proposes that he must have a crush on her. She encourages March to bring her camera, and the crew secretly watches the tasting. Jiang Yao’s determination to finish the cup strengthens their romantic interpretation, although the episode does not establish that he actually has feelings for Himeko 20 21.
Jiang Yao’s own pour-over coffee later changes Stelle’s opinion of the drink. Having associated coffee with Himeko’s version, she finally understands why others enjoy it 24 25.
Xianzhou Luofu Visit
Stelle warns Jiang Yao that Kafka is dangerous when the Stellaron Hunter appears aboard the Express. Nevertheless, she supports visiting the Xianzhou Luofu, citing both trust in Jiang Yao’s judgment and the danger to innocent inhabitants if Kafka’s warning is true. She joins March and Welt’s advance team, while Jiang Yao initially remains aboard for his safety 25 26 27.
After a day spent pursuing and capturing Kafka, Stelle and March miss Jiang Yao’s cooking and become anxious when Welt reports that something has come up on his end. Qingque later guides them to Aurum Alley, where Stelle enthusiastically reunites with her “master” 31 41 46.
At the cooking stall, Stelle supplies heat with her Flame Lance under Jiang Yao’s supervision. She then enjoys his pulled-sugar Qiongshi Bird Skewers and the improved Dream Tapir Roll, Entwined Fate, alongside the Express crew and their Xianzhou hosts 48 49 50.
Personality
Stelle is openly food-motivated: she stuffs herself at the station feast, competes with March for favored dishes, and seeks an apprenticeship partly to gain more opportunities to eat Jiang Yao’s cooking. Her enthusiasm can distract her from other concerns, as when breakfast briefly takes priority over investigating Himeko and Welt’s absence 5 7 10 16.
Her humor combines teasing, exaggerated conclusions, and confident improvisation. She turns the private-kitchen discovery into a dramatic story about heroic dog-food testing, claims she followed March to help her master, and interprets Jiang Yao’s coffee tasting as romantic devotion. She also shows genuine concern for her companions and supports the Luofu expedition to protect people who may be endangered by its Stellaron crisis 13 18 21 26 31.
